Merve Çoban
Merve Çoban (born 25 January 1993) is a Turkish karateka. She won the bronze medal in the Karate at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's 61 kg, 61kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She is also a gold medalist and a two-time silver medalist in the women's kumite 61 kg event at the European Karate Championships. She won the gold medal in the Karate at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games, kumite 68kg event at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Palembang, Indonesia. She also represented her country at the European Games in 2015 and in 2019 and she won a medal on both occasions. Bafra
Bafra is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Samsun Province, Turkey. Covering about 1,500 km2, and with over 140,000 inhabitants it is a settlement located from the Black Sea, in the fertile Kızılırmak Delta. 2019 European Games
The 2nd European Games 2019 (, ''Jeŭrapiejskija huĺni 2019''; , ''Yevropeyskiye igry 2019''), also known as the 2019 European Games or Minsk 2019 (; ), were held in Minsk, Belarus, from 21 June to 30 June 2019. The games featured 200 events in 15 sports (23 disciplines). Around 4,000 athletes from 50 countries participated. Ten of the sports offered qualification opportunities for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. 2015 European Games
The 1st European Games (), also known as the 2015 European Games or Baku 2015 (), were the inaugural edition of the European Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the European Olympic Committees. It took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 12 to 28 June 2015, and featured almost 6,000 athletes from 50 countries competing in 30 sports, including 15 summer Olympic and 2 non-Olympic sports. The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games () was a multinational, multi-sport event that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 12 to 22, 2017. Previously, the event was held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 and Indonesia in 2013. The second event, originally scheduled to take place in October 2009 in Iran, was later rescheduled but then cancelled. The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) is responsible for the direction and control of the Islamic Solidarity Games. 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games
The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games ( Indonesian: ''Pesta Olahraga Solidaritas Islam 2013'') was an international sporting event held in Palembang, Indonesia from 22 September to 1 October 2013. The 2009 event, originally scheduled to take place in Iran, and later rescheduled for April 2010, was cancelled after a dispute arose between Iran and the Arab countries. Host selection Indonesia was announced as the host for the Games in April 2011 with Pekanbaru, Riau, as the host city. However, the Games were then relocated to Jakarta citing lack of standard at some venues combined with a corruption case involving Governor of Riau, Rusli Zainal. Palembang was finally selected as the host city and the Games were delayed about three months from the original timeframe in June. Islamic Solidarity Games
The Islamic Solidarity Games () is a multinational, multi-sport event. Managed jointly by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), the Games involve elite athletes of the OIC competing in a variety of sports. The most recent edition was held in Konya, Turkey, in 2022. The next edition will take place in 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Background The Solidarity Games were established to strengthen Islamic camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth.
