Merry (band)
is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in Tokyo in 2001. The current member lineup consists of Gara on vocals, Yuu on guitar, Tetsu on bass, and Nero on the drums. History 2000~2004 In late 2000, after the disbandment of their bands After effect and Shiver respectively, vocalist Gara and guitarist Yuu, only briefly acquainted through a few live events, contacted each other in hopes of a fresh beginning. In the following months of 2001, a series of meetings and discussions over the phone eventually led to the recruitment of the three other members, Tetsu, Nero and Kenichi in that order, and the five of them formed in October 2001 what was to be known as Merry today. Early activities as an obscure indies band included the distribution of 500 copies of a 2-track MD in indie CD stores nationwide, accompanied by a number of secret live shows held in Tokyo and Nagoya. Merry (EP)
Gregory Douglass (born December 19, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter. Douglass plays lead guitar and piano. Background Douglass was born and raised in rural Vermont, performing in musical theater and winning local talent shows in his early teens. He taught himself to play the piano and guitar by age 14, and began writing his own original songs throughout junior high. While attending Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Douglass composed and recorded the material for his first two albums. On graduation day, the schools' Headmaster presented him with a music award and publicly announced that Douglass was the first student he would ever encourage ''not'' to go to college, advice that convinced him to immediately pursue music full-time. Douglass has also been involved in theatre work, both at the amateur and professional levels. "Merry" is a song by American power pop band Magnapop. It was initially released in 1990 as the B-side to a 7" through Safety Net Records (catalogue number NET 17) under the band's original name of Homemade Sister. The song was re-recorded and released again on the EP ''Sugarland (EP), Sugarland'' as well as the band's Magnapop (album), self-titled debut album in 1992 on Solid Records (527.9013.40.) A live Acoustic music, acoustic recording of the song from June 7, 1992, was released on the EP ''Big Bright Cherry'' as well as the special edition of the studio album ''Hot Boxing''. A new studio recording of it appears on the 2019 album ''The Circle Is Round''. ''NME'' described the second recording as "a sublime piece of pop supremacy" and James Sullivan, writing for Addicted to Noise in 1996 declared it one of the group's finest songs.
