Leon Ivor Mendonca (13 July 1934 – 14 June 2014) was a Guyanese cricketer who played in two Test matches in 1962. Career A wicket-keeper and useful batsman, he played for British Guiana from 1958–59 to 1961–62. On his first-class debut against Barbados he opened the batting and scored 74 and 27, and in his second match, also against Barbados, he made 5 and 69. He later batted down the order. He made his Test debut against India in the Second Test at Kingston in 1961–62, when batting at number eight he made 78, his highest first-class score, adding 127 for the seventh wicket with Gary Sobers and 74 for the eighth wicket with Charlie Stayers. He lost his place to David Allan for the Third Test, returned for the Fourth, then was replaced by Allan again for the Fifth. The Fourth Test was his last first-class match. Clive Paul Mendonca (born 9 September 1968) is an English former professional footballer, who played as a forward between 1986 and 2002, notably for Grimsby Town and Charlton Athletic. Mendonca also played for Sheffield United, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. Known to his team mates as “Clyde” as a reference to the famous series of films “Any which way” starring Clint Eastwood and Clyde the Orangutan. António Manuel Viana Mendonça (born 9 October 1982) is an Angolan retired footballer who played as a right winger. Club career Born in Luanda, Mendonça moved to Portugal in January 2000 at only 17, signing with Varzim S.C. in the second division, and scored ten goals in 30 games in his first full season to help to Primeira Liga promotion. He appeared in 28 matches in the following campaign (18 starts, two goals), with the Póvoa do Varzim side retaining their league status. Walter Wanderley (; born Walter Jose Wanderley Mendonça, May 12, 1932 – September 4, 1986) was a Brazilian organist and pianist, best known for his lounge and bossa nova music and for his instrumental version of the song '' Summer Samba'' which became a worldwide hit. Biography Wanderley was born in Recife, Brazil. Already famous in his native country by the late 1950s, he became an internationally renowned star in the mid-1960s through his collaboration with the singer Astrud Gilberto. He recorded six albums on the Verve label between 1966 and 1968. Stella Mendonça (born 10 August 1970) is a Mozambican operatic soprano specializing in the bel canto repertoire. In 2002 Mendonça collaborated in adapting Georges Bizet's opera Carmen for African audiences and then performed it in Mozambique. Newton Ferreira de Mendonça (February 14, 1921 – November 22, 1960) was a musician, composer, and lyricist. He began as a pianist in 1950. Mendonça was born in Rio de Janeiro. In 1953 he started working with Antônio Carlos Jobim, something for which he is best known. Mendonça went on to co-compose music and lyrics for Desafinado, Meditação, and Samba de uma nota só. In 1959 he had his first heart attack, but his songs continued gaining attention. In 1960 his second heart attack proved fatal.
