''Memphis'' is the seventeenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Boz Scaggs. It was Scaggs's first solo release since 2008's ''Speak Low''. The album was released on March 5, 2013, by 429 Records. The album has debuted on ''Billboard'' 200 at No. 17, and has sold 90,000 copies in the US as of March 2015. Critical reception Thom Jurek of AllMusic gave the album a positive review with 4 of 5 stars, describing the record as "a stunner. Scaggs is in full possession of that iconic voice; he delivers songs with an endemic empathy and intimacy that make them sound like living, breathing stories." Boz Scaggs
William Royce "Boz" Scaggs (born June 8, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was a bandmate of Steve Miller (musician), Steve Miller in the Ardells in the early 1960s and a member of the Steve Miller Band from 1967 to 1968. Scaggs began his solo career in 1969, though he lacked a major hit until his 1976 album, ''Silk Degrees'', peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 and produced the hit singles "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown (Boz Scaggs song), Lowdown". Scaggs produced two more RIAA certification, platinum-certified albums in ''Down Two Then Left'' and ''Middle Man (album), Middle Man'', the latter of which produced the top-40 singles "Breakdown Dead Ahead" and "Jojo (Boz Scaggs song), Jojo". Mink DeVille
Mink DeVille was a Rock music, rock band founded in 1974, known for its association with early punk rock bands at New York City, New York's CBGB nightclub and for being a showcase for the music of Willy DeVille. The band recorded six albums in the years 1977 to 1985, after which it disbanded the next year. Except for frontman Willy DeVille, the original members of the band played only on the first two albums (''Cabretta'' and ''Return to Magenta''). Armenter (or Armentia) Chatmon (March 21, 1893 or January 1894 – September 21, 1964), known as Bo Carter, was an early American blues musician. He was a member of the Mississippi Sheiks in concerts and on a few of their recordings. Donald Jay Fagen (born January 10, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and musician who is the co-founder, lead singer, co-songwriter, and keyboardist of the rock band Steely Dan, formed in the early 1970s with musical partner Walter Becker. ''Countdown to Ecstasy'' is the second studio album by American rock band Steely Dan, released in July 1973, by ABC Records. It was recorded at the Village Recorder in West Los Angeles, California, except for Rick Derringer's slide guitar part for "Show Biz Kids", which was recorded at Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado. After the departure of vocalist David Palmer from Steely Dan, the group recorded the album with Donald Fagen singing lead on every track.
