Route 33 is a state highway contained entirely within the city of Chicopee and the town of South Hadley in Massachusetts. Its southern terminus is at Route 141 and its northern terminus is at Route 116. Route description Route 33 begins at Route 141 just north of the Chicopee River in the Chicopee Falls section of the city. It crosses under the Massachusetts Turnpike, with the entrance ramps for Exit 5 just north of this. It passes west of Westover Joint Air Reserve Base before entering the town of South Hadley. Once in South Hadley, the road crosses U.S. Route 202, which leads westward towards Holyoke, as it turns northeast, ending at Route 116, the street itself continuing as Lyman Street. Route 141 is a west–east state highway in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. Its western terminus is at Route 10 in Easthampton. Its eastern terminus is at US 20 (US 20) in Springfield, a terminus it shares with Route 21. Route 116 is a north–south (though in its northern part it is more east-west) state highway in Massachusetts. The route runs from Route 20A in Springfield through mill towns, college towns and rural towns, crossing the Connecticut River three times before finally ending at Route 8 in Adams. Westover Joint Air Reserve Base
Westover Air Reserve Base is an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) installation located in the Massachusetts communities of Chicopee and Ludlow, near the city of Springfield, Massachusetts. Established at the outset of World War II, today Westover is the largest Air Force Reserve base in the United States, home to approximately 5,500 military and civilian personnel, and covering 2,500 acres (10 km²). Until 2011, it was a backup landing site for the NASA Space Shuttle and in the past few years has expanded to include a growing civilian access airport (Westover Metropolitan Airport) sharing Westover's military-maintained runways.
