Western Australian Legislative Assembly
The Western Australian Legislative Assembly, or lower house, is one of the two chambers of the Parliament of Western Australia, an Australian state. The Parliament sits in Parliament House, Perth, Parliament House in the Western Australian capital, Perth. Electoral District Of Murchison
Murchison-Eyre was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1890 to 1989 and again from 2005 to 2008. Known as Murchison until 1968, it was one of the original 30 seats contested at the 1890 election. The district was located in the Western Australian outback. The seat was abolished ahead of the 1989 election. Revived for the 2005 election, Murchison-Eyre was won by Labor candidate John Bowler, previously a member for the abolished Eyre. Tom Evans (Western Australian Politician)
Thomas Daniel Evans (18 April 1929 – 27 February 1995) was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1956 to 1980, representing the seat of Kalgoorlie. He served as a minister in the government of John Tonkin, including as treasurer and attorney-general. Early life Evans was born in Denmark, Western Australia, to Kathleen Veronica (née Hayden) and Daniel Thomas Evans. Ron Davies (Western Australian Politician)
Ronald Davies (11 April 1926 – 24 July 2011) was an Australian politician, who was a Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the electoral district of Victoria Park from 1961 to 1986. Born in 1926, Davies was a union official for the Western Australian Railway Officers' Union before he was elected to the Western Australian parliament in a by-election for Victoria Park in 1961. Henry Curran (25 January 1912 – 21 October 1975) was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1960 to 1968. Curran was born in Stirling, Scotland, to Rosina (née McKenna) and Patrick Curran. He and his parents emigrated to Australia when he was a child. After leaving school, Curran worked for various companies in the Fremantle area, and became involved in the union movement. Electoral District Of Claremont
Claremont was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1901 to 1968. Located in the affluent western suburbs of Perth, it was a safe seat for the Liberal Party and its predecessor parties. Its abolition included Claremont, Mount Claremont, Swanbourne, and the western part of Dalkeith. It was abolished at the 1968 state election, with its area mostly transferring to Nedlands, and smaller parts to the Electoral district of Cottesloe and the new district of Floreat. Claremont's most notable member was Charles North, who served as Speaker from 1947 until 1953 during the McLarty–Watts Ministry. Harold Crommelin
Harold William Crommelin (9 April 1903 – 20 May 1998) was an Australian businessman and politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1956 to 1968, representing the seat of Claremont. Early life and career Crommelin was born in Perth to Annie Florence (née Loton) and Reginald Crommelin. His maternal grandfather was Sir William Loton, a member of parliament and Mayor of Perth. Crommelin attended Toowoomba Grammar School (in Queensland) and Hale School, and after leaving school worked as a farmer, eventually purchasing his own property near Pingelly. He later worked as a car salesman and accounting clerk, eventually becoming a partner in a clothing firm. During World War II, his company made greatcoats for the army. Crommelin was elected to the South Ward of the Claremont Municipal Council in 1953, and would serve as a councillor until 1963. James Craig (Australian Politician)
James Frederick Craig (22 December 1911 – 12 January 1989) was an Australian farmer and politician who was a Country Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1959 to 1971, representing the seat of Toodyay. He served as a minister in the government of Sir David Brand. Craig was born in Kalgoorlie to Hilda Dagma (née Thornton) and James Burnett Craig. He attended Scotch College, Perth, and then found work as a clerk with Western Australian Government Railways, working at Welshpool. Craig enlisted in the Australian Army in 1939, and saw active duty in the Middle Eastern theatre. He initially returned to the railways after being discharged in 1942, and then from 1947 served as secretary and accountant for a cooperative based in the Swan Valley.
