This is a list of members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 10 November 1920 to 6 August 1921, as elected at the 1920 Victorian state election, 1920 state election: : On 13 December 1920, the Elections and Qualifications Committee of the Legislative Assembly declared the election of Edwin Mackrell to the seat of Electoral district of Upper Goulburn, Upper Goulburn was void, as Mackrell had failed to properly nominate his candidacy in the specified time, and had committed other technical breaches. A 1921 Upper Goulburn state by-election, by-election was held on 27 January 1921, at which Mackrell was nominated and retained the seat. Electoral District Of Ballarat West
The Electoral district of Ballarat West (initially spelt Ballaarat West) was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It existed from 1859 to 1927 and from 1992 to 2014. The original seat was created for the second election to the Legislative Assembly in 1859. In 1927, it was merged with Ballaarat East to form a single Ballaarat electorate. Its second implementation occurred in 1992, when it replaced Ballarat North. Unlike Ballarat East, which had a rural character, Ballarat West was mostly urban, and included much of Ballarat proper and its southern and western suburbs. William Brownbill
William Brownbill (19 January 1864 – 29 April 1938) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly on two occasions from 1920 to 1932, then from 1935 until his death in 1938. He represented the electoral district of Geelong for the Labor Party. The Electoral district of Wangaratta was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created in the redistribution of 1904, the Electoral district of Wangaratta and Rutherglen being abolished. John Bowser
Sir John Bowser (2 September 1856 – 10 June 1936), Australian politician, was the 26th Premier of Victoria. He was born in London, the son of an army officer, and arrived in Melbourne as a child with his family. He grew up at Bacchus Marsh and when he left school got a job with the ''Bacchus Marsh Express''. As a young man he went to Scotland and worked on newspapers while studying at University of Edinburgh. Returning to Australia, he settled in Wangaratta, where he farmed and managed the ''Wangaratta Chronicle'', which he eventually bought. In October 1894, Bowser was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Wangaratta and Rutherglen. Murray Bourchier
Brigadier Sir Murray William James Bourchier, CMG, DSO, VD (4 April 1881 – 16 December 1937) was an Australian soldier and politician. He was Deputy Premier of Victoria from April 1935 until June 1936. Early life Murray was the eldest son of Edward and Francis Bourchier, owners of the Woodland Park property near Strathmerton, Victoria. He was educated privately in Melbourne and afterwards worked at Woodland Park. Military career World War I Bourchier commanded a CMF light horse troop at Numurkah, Victoria from 1909 to 1914. At the outbreak of World War I he was commissioned into the 4th Light Horse Regiment and left with the first contingent of the First Australian Imperial Force. He served with the regiment in the Gallipoli, Egyptian, Sinai, Palestine and Syrian campaigns. John Billson
John William Billson (10 January 1862 – 23 December 1924) was a British-born Australian politician. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Fitzroy from 1900 to 1924 and the deputy leader of the state Labor Party from 1913 to 1924. Billson was born in Leicester, England, where he became a bootmaker and trade unionist. He married Sarah Jane Sarson Coverley on 14 October 1882; they had three children. Billson migrated to Australia in 1886, continued working as a bootmaker and became president of the Victorian Operative Bootmakers' Union in 1893–95, serving in that capacity during the prominent 1894-95 bootmakers' strike. His unionism made finding work difficult; he went briefly to Sydney, before returning to Victoria to become the union's general secretary from 1895 to 1901. Alfred Billson (Australian Politician)
Alfred Arthur Billson (11 January 1858 – 31 October 1930) was an Australian politician. He was born at Wooragee to brewer George Billson and Isabella Blades. He attended Beechworth Grammar School and Scotch College before succeeding his father as a brewer. On 28 June 1881 he married Laura Annie Fielder, with whom he had five children. The family brewery, Billson's Brewery, became the Anglo-Australian Brewery in 1892 (incorporated in 1902), which was amalgamated with brother George Henry Billson's Albury Brewing and Malting Company, to become the Border United Co-operative Breweries, Ltd in 1911. This sold out to a newly formed company, Murray Breweries, 1914. Billson served on Beechworth Shire Council from 1884 to 1893 and from 1895 to 1910, with three terms as president (1888–89, 1899–1901, 1908–09).
