Liberal candidate Jack Batty won the resulting by-election on 2 July. : On 6 July 2023, MacKillop Liberal MP Nick McBride resigned from the Liberal Party and sits as an independent. : On 6 February 2024, Dunstan Liberal MP Steven Marshall resigned. The resulting by-election was held on 23 March 2024, and was won by Labor's Cressida O'Hanlon. : On 15 October 2024, Black Liberal MP David Speirs resigned. Electoral District Of Mawson
Mawson is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It covers the entirety of Kangaroo Island, and parts of the local government areas of Alexandrina Council, the City of Onkaparinga, and the District Council of Yankalilla. Major localities in the district include Cape Jervis, Kingscote, McLaren Vale, Port Willunga, Aldinga Beach, Sellicks Beach, Willunga and Yankalilla. The electorate was created in the 1969 redistribution, taking effect at the 1970 election. It is named after Sir Douglas Mawson, a geologist and explorer who made several expeditions to Antarctica. For the first three decades of its existence, it was a bellwether seat held by the party of government. Susan Elizabeth Close is an Australian politician, who is currently the deputy premier of South Australia since March 2022. She also holds the ministerial portfolios of Minister for Climate, Environment and Water (thus overseeing the Department for Environment and Water); Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science; and Minister for Defence and Space Industries. Close is a member of the Australian Labor Party, serving as the deputy leader following the 2018 State election. Nadia Clancy
Nadia Peace Clancy (born October 1986) is an Australian politician and former political adviser. She has been a Labor member of the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2022 state election, representing Elder. With a swing of 7.5 per cent, she defeated the incumbent Liberal Party member Carolyn Power, who had held the seat since 2018 with a margin of 1.9 per cent. Clancy was the unsuccessful Labor candidate for the federal division of Boothby in the 2019 Australian federal election and is a member of Labor's left faction. Vickie Chapman
Vickie Ann Chapman is a former Australian politician, representing the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Bragg for the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia between the 2002 election and May 2022. Chapman served as the Deputy Premier of South Australia and Attorney-General between 19 March 2018 and 22 November 2021 in the Marshall government. She was the first woman to hold either post. Chapman has previously served as deputy leader of the Liberal Party from 2006 to 2009, and became deputy leader again in 2013. In that capacity, she served as Deputy Leader of the Opposition between 30 March 2006 and 4 July 2009, and again between 4 February 2013 and 19 March 2018. He is a member of the South Australian Labor Party and has served in the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2022 South Australian state election, representing the seat of Taylor. Michael Edison Brown is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor member of the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2018 state election. At 323,131 km², it is a vast country district extending from the Spencer Gulf as far as the Northern Territory border in the north and the Queensland and New South Wales borders in the east.
