Melbourne Airport is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Melbourne Airport recorded a population of 64 at the 2021 census. The suburb is the location of Melbourne Airport and the Tullamarine Country Club. Since 2013, it has been home to The Hangar (previously the True Value Solar Centre), which is the training and administrative base for the Essendon Football Club and the Victorian arm of the Australian Paralympic Committee. The Shire of Bulla was a local government area about northwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of , and existed from 1862 until 1994. History The Bulla Road District was created on 16 September 1862. It became a shire on 9 March 1866. Melbourne Airport Rail is a rail link under construction from the Melbourne CBD to Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine. Since October 2022 the project has also been branded as SRL Airport. The rail link is to run through the under-construction Metro Tunnel, running 27 km from the airport to Town Hall station in the city centre with 12 km of new track between the airport and Sunshine station. The link will be a new branch of the Melbourne Metro rail network and run High-Capacity Metro Trains at a 10-minute frequency.
