Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC)
The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) is a nonprofit organisation established under the Music Modernization Act of 2018. It was created to issue blanket mechanical Music licence, licences for qualified streaming services in the United States, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal (service), Tidal. In October 2022, it was reported that the MLC had paid almost $700 million in blanket royalties to songwriters and publishers. Tidal (service)
Tidal (stylized in all caps) is a Norwegian-American subscription-based music, podcast and video streaming service that offers audio and music videos. Tidal was launched in 2014 by Swedish public company Aspiro which is now majority-owned by Block, Inc., an American payment processing company.
