McArthur Township is one of the seventeen townships of Logan County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,016. Geography Located in the northern part of the county, it borders the following townships: * Richland Township - north * Rushcreek Township - east * Lake Township - southeast * Harrison Township - southwest * Washington Township - west The village of Huntsville is located in central McArthur Township, and the unincorporated community of Northwood is located in the township's northeast, along the border with Richland Township. State Route 366 (SR 366) is an east–west state highway in the western portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. SR 366 has its western terminus at a T-intersection with U.S. Route 33 (US 33) nearly northwest of Lakeview. The route's eastern terminus is at State Route 117 about north of Huntsville. State Route 638 (SR 638) is a two-lane north–south state highway in the west central portion of Ohio, a U.S. state. SR 638 has its southern terminus at an intersection with U.S. Route 68 (US 68) just over north of the city of Bellefontaine. Duncan McArthur
Duncan McArthur (1772April 29, 1839) was a military officer and a Federalist and National Republican politician from Ohio. He served as the 11th governor of Ohio. When first elected to state office as a representative, he was serving in the state militia during the War of 1812. He was later appointed as brigadier general in the U.S. Army. Shortly thereafter he was placed in charge of the Army of the Northwest, serving through 1817 and negotiating the Treaty of Fort Meigs of 1817 to ratify peace and land cessions with Native American tribes. Northwood is a small, unincorporated community crossroads village in northern Logan County, Ohio, United States. It lies along the line between Richland Township and McArthur Township, approximately two miles south of the village of Belle Center and near the South Fork of the Great Miami River. Northwood was founded in the early 19th century, during the early years of settlement in Logan County. Its primary significance lies in its being the original site of Geneva College.
