Mbabane
Mbabane () is the most populous city in Eswatini (previously called Swaziland), and is one of the two Capital (political), capitals (along with Lobamba), serving as the Executive (government), executive capital. It has an estimated population of 94,874 (2010). It is located on the Mbabane River and its tributary the Polinjane River in the Mdimba, Mdzimba Mountains. It is located in the Hhohho District, Hhohho Region, of which it is also the Capital city, capital. The average elevation of the city is 1,243 meters. It lies on the MR3 road. History The town grew after the nation's administrative centre moved from Bremersdorp (now called Manzini) in january of 1902. It derives its name from a chief, Mbabane Kunene, who lived in the area when some 1820 Settlers, British settlers arrived. Hhohho is a region of Eswatini, located in the north western part of the country. Hhohho was named after the capital of King Mswati II, who expanded the Swazi territory to the north and west, taking in the districts of Barberton, Mpumalanga, Barberton, Nelspruit, Carolina, Mpumalanga, Carolina and Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, Piet Retief. These areas were later acquired by what was the Province of Transvaal and today they form part of the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. Waterford Kamhlaba
Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa (WKUWCSA) is an educational institution outside Mbabane, Eswatini. It is one of 18 international schools and colleges in the United World Colleges educational movement. Waterford was the first school in southern Africa open to children and youth of all colours. It was started in direct opposition to the apartheid regime in neighboring South Africa. Waterford Kamhlaba was established by Michael Stern (educator), Michael Stern in 1963. The school's mission was similar to the philosophy of the United World Colleges, UWC movement, and Waterford became the fourth member school of the UWC movement in 1981. The campus was originally designed by Portuguese architect Pancho Guedes, who agreed to work with the school's founding team pro-bono, and would later enroll his children at the school. MR3 Road
The MR3 road, also known as the Matsapha–Mbabane–Ngwenya road or Road No. MR3, is a major highway of Eswatini (previously Swaziland). It is one of the busiest roads in the country, crossing it from east to west. Along with the MR7 and MR8 roads, it forms the "backbone of Swaziland's internal transport system." It connects the EN5 road in Mozambique near Namaacha at to the N17 road in South Africa at , near Ngwenya. The road passes through Hlane Royal National Park and through the capital of Mbabane, about further to the southwest. The highway descends into the Ezulwini Valley in four lanes. At Manzini, a bridge crosses the Mzimene River. Concerns were raised in the 1960s when the road was built through Hlane National Park under pressure from sugar estates at the park's borders. Bremersdorp
Manzini (formerly Bremersdorp) is a large city in Eswatini, which is also the city of Eswatini's Manzini Region. The city is the country's second largest urban center behind the capital Mbabane, with a population of 110,000 (2008). It is known as "The Hub" of Eswatini and lies on the MR3 road. Eswatini's primary industrial site at Matsapha lies near the town's western border.
