Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska
Małgorzata Helena Sekuła-Szmajdzińska (born 19 April 1956) is a Polish lawyer and politician. Biography Born in Warsaw, she moved to Wrocław at a young age. She studied at University of Wrocław, and as a lawyer she worked at the Ministry of Justice. Electoral history She ran unsuccessfully to the Warsaw city council in 2006, but in 2010 she was elected to the council. In 2011 she was elected to the Sejm. In 2015, despite getting individual votes, she was not elected as the Democratic Left Alliance did not pass the electoral threshold as a list. In May 2019 she ran for MeP, but was not elected. She was elected to the Sejm again in October 2019. Private life She is the widow of Jerzy Szmajdziński, who died in Smolensk air disaster On 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft operating Polish Air Force Flight 101 crashed near the Russian city of Smolensk, killing all 96 people on board. Senate Of The Republic Of Poland
The Senate () is the upper house of the Polish parliament, the lower house being the Sejm. The history of the Polish Senate stretches back over 500 years; it was one of the first constituent bodies of a bicameral parliament in Europe and existed without hiatus until the final partition of the Polish state in 1795. The contemporary Senate is composed of 100 senators elected by a universal ballot and is headed by the Marshal of the Senate (''Marszałek Senatu''). The incumbent Marshal of the Senate is Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska. On 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft operating Polish Air Force Flight 101 crashed near the Russian city of Smolensk, killing all 96 people on board. Jerzy Szmajdziński
Jerzy Andrzej Szmajdziński (, 9 April 1952 – 10 April 2010) was a Polish politician who was a Deputy Marshal of Polish Sejm and previously served as Minister of Defence. He was a candidate for President of Poland in the 2010 election. Szmajdziński graduated from the Wrocław University of Economics. In the 1970s and 1980s he was an activist for the Union of Socialist Youth and Polish Socialist Youth Union, serving as its chairman from 1986–1989. He remained a member of Polish United Workers' Party from 1973 until its end in 1990. Later, he entered the leadership position of the Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland party. In December 1999, he became the deputy chairman of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD). He became a member of the Sejm in 1990, and in his second term Szmajdziński was chairman of the National Defense Committee and in the third term a deputy chairman of that commission. Parliamentary elections were held in Poland on 13 October 2019. All 460 members of the Sejm and 100 senators of the Senate of Poland, Senate were elected. Parliamentary elections were held in Poland on 25 October 2015. All 460 members of the Sejm and 100 senators of the Senate of Poland, Senate were elected.
