Mayfield West (sometimes called Southfields) is a suburban neighbourhood located within the largely rural Town of Caledon, in Peel Region in Ontario, Canada, immediately adjacent to the City of Brampton. It has a population of 14,800 people. Description Mayfield West is located in Ward 2 of Caledon. It is located on the northern boundary of Brampton, along Mayfield Road. It is also bounded by Chinguacousy Road to the west, Dixie Road to the east, and has an erratic northern boundary south of Old School Road. Near Highway 10, it surrounds the Brampton neighbourhood of Snelgrove, a former hamlet which extends slightly north of Mayfield, on three sides. Chinguacousy Township
Chinguacousy Township is a former municipality and present-day geographic township in the Regional Municipality of Peel, Ontario, Canada. In 1973, when Peel County became the Regional Municipality of Peel, the township was split in half, with the northern half becoming part of the town of Caledon, and the southern half, along with the township of Toronto Gore, joining the city of Brampton. Chinguacousy Township spanned from what now is Winston Churchill Boulevard to Airport Road, Olde Base Line Road to Steeles Avenue. Several villages were once located within Chinguacousy Township. In most cases only small remnants like churches and cemeteries of many of these former villages exist. Ontario Highway 410
King's Highway 410, also known as Highway 410 and colloquially as the four-ten, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario that connects Highways 401 and 403 to Brampton. North of Brampton, the freeway connects to Highway 10, which continues north through Caledon as a four-lane undivided highway. The route is patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police and has a speed limit of . Highway 410 was built along the alignment of Heart Lake Road south of Bovaird Drive, while north of Bovaird Drive it was built along a new alignment. New Urbanism is an urban design movement which promotes environmentally friendly habits by creating walkable neighbourhoods containing a wide range of housing and job types. It arose in the United States in the early 1980s, and has gradually influenced many aspects of real estate development, urban planning, and municipal land-use strategies. New Urbanism attempts to address the ills associated with urban sprawl and post-Second World War suburban development.
