Maverick (company)
Maverick was an American entertainment company founded in 1992 by Warner Music Group and run by recording artist Madonna, as well as Frederick DeMann and Veronica "Ronnie" Dashev. It included a record label ( Maverick Records), a film production company (Maverick Films), book publishing, music publishing, an adjacent Latin/Spanish language record label (Maverick Música), and a television production company. The first releases for the company were Madonna's 1992 coffee table publication '' SEX'', and its accompanying studio album, ''Erotica'' (released simultaneously); the book, notably, drew harsh criticism towards Madonna herself, despite the book's intention to be read as an erotic and irreverent “poetry journal” with artistic, vintage-style black-and-white photos, and a telling of fictional romantic escapades. Maverick is an American Talent manager, music management group formed in 2014 by Guy Oseary. A revival of the Maverick (company), Maverick company (1992–2009), the management group also adopts the company's logo. History In 2014, Oseary announced that he was forming a joint venture with Live Nation Entertainment to establish a management group, amalgamating with other managers and their companies into one venture. Oseary originally was joined by Reign Deer's Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber, Blueprint Group's Gee Roberson, Cortez Bryant and Shawn Gee, Quest Management's Scott Rodger, Spalding Entertainment's Clarence Spalding, Laffitte Management's Ron Laffitte and I Am Other's Caron Veazey. Pan Books is a British publishing imprint that first became active in the 1940s and is now part of the British-based Macmillan Publishers, owned by the Georg von Holtzbrinck Publishing Group of Germany. History Pan Books began as an independent publisher, established in 1944 by Alan Bott, previously known for his memoirs of his experiences as a flying ace in the First World War. Candlebox
Candlebox is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Since its formation in 1990, the group has released eight studio albums, several charting singles, a compilation, and a CD+DVD. Candlebox found immediate success with the release of its self-titled debut album in July 1993. ''Candlebox'' featured four singles: "Change", " You", " Far Behind" and "Cover Me". "Far Behind" reached the top 20, and the album was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. The band's next album, ''Lucy'' (1995), was certified gold, and was followed three years later by ''Happy Pills'' (1998). After troubles with its record company, Candlebox broke up in 2000. ''Candlebox'' is the debut album by Seattle rock band Candlebox. It contains their best known hit, " Far Behind", as well as the hit singles "Change", " You" and "Cover Me". Released in 1993, the album has since been certified 4× platinum in the United States. Promotion The music videos for "Change", "Far Behind" and "You" remained in longstanding rotation on MTV and the latter became two of the most requested videos of 1993, and the former being featured on ''Beavis and Butt-Head''. Other songs were recorded during the ''Candlebox'' sessions and included on other releases. "Can't Give In," for instance, appears on the ''Airheads'' film soundtrack.
