Lothar Matthäus
Lothar Herbert Matthäus (; born 21 March 1961) is a German association football, football pundit and former professional player and manager. He captained Germany national football team, West Germany to victory in the 1990 FIFA World Cup and was awarded the Ballon d'Or. In 1991, he was named the first FIFA World Player of the Year, and remains the only German to have received the award. He was also included in the Ballon d'Or Dream Team#First Team, Ballon d'Or Dream Team in 2020. Matthäus Aurogallus
Matthäus Aurogallus, (1490 – 10 November 1543) was a Bohemian linguist. Born in Chomutov (then Komotau), Bohemia, as ''Matthäus Goldhahn'', (he latinized his name ''Aurogallus'' in the fashion of renaissance humanists) Aurogallus served as professor of Hebrew at the University of Wittenberg and was a colleague of Philip Melanchthon and Martin Luther. He assisted Luther in the revision of the reformer's translation of the Old Testament and made valuable contributions to the academic study of Hebrew. Early life and education Matthäus Aurogallus began his education at a humanist school in Komotau founded by Czech nobleman and writer Bohuslav Hasištejnský z Lobkovic in his family home, Hasištejn Castle. There, Aurogallus studied Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. He then studied Hebrew in Leipzig from 1512 to 1515, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, before returning to Komotau to teach Latin at his former school. Matthäus Dresser
Matthäus Dresser, (also: Matteaus, Matthaei; Dressler, Drescher, Dresserus, Dresseri) (24 August 1536 in Erfurt – 5 October 1607 in Leipzig) was a Lutheran German humanist, pedagogue, philosopher, and historian. Education and career Dresser attended school in Erfurt and Eisleben, and later studied at the University or Erfurt, where he attended lectures by Martin Seidemann. In Erfurt, records of Dresser go back to 1559, where he earned a Masters of Philosophy. In 1560, he learned Biblical Hebrew during his university studies. When the began construction in 1561, Dresser participated in the founding of the University, where he became a professor of Greek Literature. Dressner aspired to attend the University of Wittenberg, but was unable to do so due to illness at the time. In 1575, Dresser became the rector of the Electoral Provincial School of St. Afra school in Meissen. Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann
Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann (1662–1736) was a German master builder and architect who helped to rebuild Dresden after the fire of 1685. His most famous work is the Zwinger (Dresden), Zwinger Palace. Life Pöppelmann was born in Herford in Westphalia on 3 May 1662 the son of a shopkeeper. In 1680, he began working on an unpaid basis as a building designer in the court of Dresden Castle. As court architect for the King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, Augustus II the Strong, he designed the grandiose Zwinger (Dresden), Zwinger palace in Dresden. He was also in charge of major works at Dresden Castle, Pillnitz Castle and he designed the Vineyard Church (''Weinbergkirche'') in Pillnitz. Pöppelmann, together with Johann Christoph Naumann, developed an urban plan for a portion of the city of Warsaw, Poland, which was only partially realized, including the Saxon Axis and other important streetscapes. Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg (1469 – 30 March 1540) was a statesman of the Holy Roman Empire, a Cardinal and Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg from 1519 to 1540. Life Matthäus Lang was the son of a burgher of Augsburg and later received the noble title of ''Wellenburg'' after a castle near his hometown that came into his possession in 1507. After studying at Ingolstadt, Vienna and Tübingen he entered the service of Emperor Frederick III of Habsburg and quickly made his way to the front. He was also one of the most trusted advisers of Frederick's son and successor Maximilian I, and his services were rewarded in 1500 with the provostship of the cathedral at Augsburg and five years later with the position of the Bishop of Gurk. He also received the Bishopric of Cartagena in Murcia in 1510 and was appointed cardinal by Pope Julius II one year later.
