Mattheus Pronk
Mattheus Adrianus "Matthé" Pronk (27 March 1947 – 25 March 2001) was a cyclist from the Netherlands who won the Amateur UCI Motor-paced World Championships in 1979 and 1981. He finished in second place in 1988, 1980, 1982 and 1983. He won the national titles in this event in 1977 and 1979. He was the father of three children including cyclists Jos Pronk (b. 1983) and Matthé Pronk (b. 1974). Besides cycling he worked as a carpenter. References

't Zand, Zijpe
t Zand is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen and lies about south of Den Helder. History The village was first mentioned in 1770 as "eene herberg, het zand genoemt", and is named after an inn which was colloquially called Zand (sand), but whose official name was 't Wapen van Alkmaar. 't Zand developed in the northern part of the Zijpe- and Hazepolder which were ''poldered'' between 1596 and 1597. The construction of the Noordhollandsch Kanaal between 1821 and 1824, resulted in a modest growth. 't Zand developed as a Catholic settlement, because clandestine churches were tolerated in the area. The Catholic O.L. Vrouwe Visitatie Church was built in 1863 and is a modest design. The church was deemed unstable in 1920, and large buttresses have been built to strengthen the construction. Warmenhuizen ( West Frisian: ''Wermehúze'') is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 8 km northwest of Heerhugowaard. An agricultural community. The area surrounding the town produces mainly dairy products, cabbage/potatoes, and hot house flowers. Mainly a Roman Catholic community featuring two churches, an old Protestant one, fallen into disuse, built in 16th century and a more modern Roman Catholic church constructed in the early 20th century. Motor-paced Racing
Motor-paced racing and motor-paced cycling refer to cycling behind a pacer in a car or more usually on a motorcycle. The cyclist (or stayer in this case) follows as close as they can to benefit from the slipstream of their pacer. The first paced races were behind other cyclists, sometimes as many as five riders on the same tandem. Bordeaux-Paris and record attempts have been ridden behind cars. More usually races or training are behind motorcycles. Origins of pacing Cyclists started to use tandem bicycles as pacers in the late 19th century.
