Matt Szczur
Matthew Francis Szczur (; born July 20, 1989) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Chicago Cubs in 2014 and also played for the San Diego Padres. Prior to his pro baseball career, Szczur played football and baseball at Villanova University, winning MVP of the 2009 FCS National Championship Game. Early life Szczur was born in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, and grew up in the Erma section of Lower Township, New Jersey. He attended Lower Cape May Regional High School, where he earned varsity letters in football, baseball, and track and field. Szczur was drafted in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 38th round, but decided to attend Villanova University instead. 2009 Villanova Wildcats Football Team
The 2009 Villanova Wildcats football team represented Villanova University in the 2009 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They played their home games at Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pennsylvania. They were co-champions of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and advanced to the National Championship game where they defeated Montana, 23–21. It was Villanova's first national championship in football, marking them as the only team to have both an NCAA Division I Football and Men's Basketball championship (the FCS is the only official NCAA Division I Football Championship). Wildcat Formation
Wildcat formation is a formation for the offense in football in which the ball is snapped not to the quarterback but directly to a player of another position lined up at the quarterback position. (In most systems, this is a running back, but some playbooks have a wide receiver, fullback, or tight end taking the snap.) The wildcat features an unbalanced offensive line and looks to the defense like a sweep behind zone blocking. A player moves across the formation prior to the snap. However, once this player crosses the position of the running back who will receive the snap, the play develops unlike the sweep. The wildcat is a gambit rather than an overall offensive philosophy. It can be a part of many offenses. Villanova Wildcats Football
The Villanova Wildcats football program represents Villanova University in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, known as Division I-AA until 2006 NCAA Division I FCS football season, 2006).
