Matt Dunne
Matt Dunne (born November 20, 1969) is an American politician and businessman from the U.S. state of Vermont. He served four terms in the Vermont House of Representatives, two terms in the Vermont State Senate, was the Democratic candidate in the 2006 Vermont Lt. Governor's race, and the fourth-place finisher in the Democratic primary during the Vermont gubernatorial election, 2010. Dunne was a candidate for the 2016 Democratic nomination for Governor of Vermont. Early life Dunne was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He grew up in Hartland, Vermont, the son of lawyer and civil rights activist John Bailey Dunne and college professor Faith Weinstein Dunne. White River Junction, Vermont
White River Junction is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Hartford in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,528 at the 2020 census, up from 2,286 in 2010, making it the largest community within the town of Hartford. The village includes the White River Junction Historic District, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and whose boundaries increased in 2002. The historic district reflects the urban architecture of the area from the late 19th century and early 20th century. The district is bounded by the Central Vermont railroad tracks, Gates Street, and South Main Street. It includes at least 29 contributing and non-contributing buildings. Deborah Markowitz
Deborah Markowitz is the state director for The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts. Prior to this, she served from 2011-2017 as the Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. She was appointed by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin. She has also been a Visiting Professor of Environmental Policy and Leadership at the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. Markowitz was elected six times to serve as the Secretary of State of Vermont. Doug Racine
Douglas Alan Racine (born October 7, 1952) is an American politician and former Vermont Secretary of Human Services, a former Vermont State Senator and was the 79th lieutenant governor of Vermont from 1997 to 2003. He is a Democrat. Racine was a candidate for the 2010 Democratic nomination for Governor of Vermont. He previously ran for governor in 2002, but lost to Republican Jim Douglas. Peter Shumlin
Peter Elliott Shumlin (born March 24, 1956) is an American politician from Vermont. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 81st governor of Vermont from 2011 to 2017. He was first elected to the office in 2010, and was reelected to a second term in 2012. In 2014 he received a narrow plurality in his race for reelection, but did not attain the 50% threshold mandated by the Constitution of Vermont. In such cases the Vermont General Assembly elects the winner. The legislature almost always selects the candidate who received a plurality; this held true, and the General Assembly re-elected Shumlin to a third term by a vote of 110–69 in January 2015. Susan Bartlett
Susan J. Bartlett (born December 18, 1946, in Fall River, Massachusetts) is an American politician from the State of Vermont. She was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Vermont in 2010 after having served 18 years in the Vermont Senate representing the Lamoille senate district. Bartlett moved with her parents in 1962 to Orleans, Vermont and graduated in 1964 from Orleans High School. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont (1968) and a master's degree in special education administration from SMSU in Johnson, Vermont (1976). Brian Dubie
Brian E. Dubie (born 9 March 1959) is an American politician who was the 80th lieutenant governor of Vermont from 2003 to 2011. He lost the 2010 election for governor of Vermont by fewer than 5,000 votes. He is a member of the Republican Party. He is a captain for American Airlines and a strategic advisor to growing companies. In 2012, he retired from the United States Air Force Reserve with the rank of colonel.
