Dean Mathey
Dean Mathey (November 23, 1890 – April 16, 1972) was an American tennis player active in the early 20th century. Namesake of Mathey College at Princeton University, he was raised in Cranford, New Jersey and was a member of the Cranford Golf Club (now called the Echo Lake Country Club). Jorge Antonio Bell Mathey (born October 21, 1959), better known as George Bell, is a Dominican former left fielder and American League MVP in Major League Baseball who played 12 seasons for the Toronto Blue Jays (1981, 1983–1990), Chicago Cubs (1991) and Chicago White Sox (1992–1993). Bell batted and threw right-handed. Career Originally signed by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1978, Bell was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1980 Rule 5 draft. Jean Baptiste Mathey
Jean Baptiste Mathey (1630–1696) was a French architect and painter born in Dijon. Between 1675 and 1694 Mathey enjoyed a remarkable career in which his French planning and devotion to classical rationality (as opposed to the luxuriance of Italian Baroque) were a conscious artistic challenge to established taste. Mathey was commissioned by the Archbishop of Prague, Johann Friedrich, to construct the Chateau Troja. His plans were also probably used for the construction of the Church of Saint Roch in the Prague then-suburb of Žižkov. Rebuilding the Castle of Dux Count of Waldstein, later the Archbishop of Prague, was apprised with Mathey and brought him to Duchcov for the purpose of rebuilding the Castle of Dux Duchcov (german: link=no, Dux) is the name of a grand house in the town of Duchcov, located about 8 km from Litvínov, in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic. Paul Mathey
Paul Victor Mathey (14 November 1844 – 24 November 1929) was a French painter and engraver. Biography Born in Paris, the son of a restorer, Mathey learned his art at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris in painters Léon Cogniet's, Isidore Pils's and Alexis-Joseph Mazerolle's workshops. He began to exhibit at the Salon de Paris in 1868, and became a valued and recognized portrait painter. He has several times portrayed artists from his entourage in their studios. Especially a portrait painter, Mathey did not, however, refrain from landscape, seascapes, lived scenes or decoration. In his forty-fifth year, at the time of the struggle between reproducers and originals, he had the idea of starting engraving. The Comité des Artistes français, of which he was no longer a member, contested the title of engravers to those who did not work on the work of others.
