Matheson Railway Station
Matheson station is located in the township of Black River-Matheson in Ontario, Canada. History An original station was built on the line circa 1908 by the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway; it was destroyed in the Matheson Fire in 1916. The present brick structure was built in its place in 1916. It still remains in place (as of 2020), well-maintained, unused and in good condition. The building contains a cornerstone indicating it was placed in 1916 by William Howard Hearst as Premier of Ontario, T.&N.O Railway Chairman Jacob Lewis Englehart, Denis Murphy and George Wise. Lehrke Inlet () is an ice-filled inlet, wide, which recedes southwest for between Cape Boggs and Cape Sharbonneau, along the east coast of Palmer Land, Antarctica. Location The Lehrke Inlet of the Weddell Sea is on the east coast of Palmer Land, at the north end of the Black Coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. It is south of the Eielson Peninsula and Dolleman Island, and north of the Imshaug Peninsula and Steele Island. The Eland Mountains are to the northwest and the Welch Mountains are to the west-southwest. Glaciers feeding the inlet include, clockwise from the south, Gain Glacier, Dana Glacier, Yates Glacier, Matheson Glacier and Ashton Glacier. Lake Matheson () is a small glacial lake in South West Coast Region, Westland, New Zealand, near the township of Fox Glacier (town), Fox Glacier. It was a traditional food-gathering place for local Māori people, Māori. An easy walking track circles the lake, which is famous for its reflected views of Aoraki / Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. Geography Lake Matheson formed between two moraine terraces left by the rapid retreat of Fox Glacier, Fox Glacier / Te Moeka o Tuawe 14,000 years ago, at the end of the Last Glacial Period, last glacial period. The retreating glacier left behind a valley and a huge slab of ice insulated by a deep layer of moraine gravel, which gradually melted and collapsed to form the lake bed. The 1867 Matheson House is a historic building in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It is located at 528 Southeast 1st Avenue. It was the home of James Douglas Matheson and Augusta Florida Steele Matheson, the daughter of Florida pioneer Augustus Steele, who founded Hillsborough County and Cedar Key. James Douglas Matheson owned a dry goods store in downtown Gainesville and was active in local and state politics, as was his son, eight-term Gainesville mayor Chris Matheson, who was also a state legislator. Chris's widow, Sarah Matheson, deeded the house to the Alachua County Historical Society, which later merged with the Matheson History Museum after it opened in 1994. Sarah Matheson lived in the house until her death in 1996. Matheson Hammock Park
Matheson Hammock Park is a urban park in metropolitan Miami on 9610 Old Cutler Road, just south of Coral Gables, Florida. The park surrounds the north and western ends of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. History Matheson Hammock opened in 1930 as the first county park of Dade County, a gift of 80 acres to the county from William J. Matheson. Originally administered by the county's first director of public parks, A. D. Barnes, and designed by the landscape architect William Lyman Phillips, today it is owned and managed by Miami-Dade County. Matheson wanted the land to be used as a park "to preserve the wild and natural beauty." Matheson Lake
Matheson Lake is a lake in Meadow Lake Provincial Park in the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan in the boreal forest ecozone of Canada. The lake is located near the centre of the park, north of the Waterhen River, west of Vivian Lake and south of Peitahigan Lake. Several small streams feed into the lake and the outflow is at the southern shore, which feeds into the Waterhen River, a tributary of Beaver River. The Beaver River, in turn, flows north into Lac Île-à-la-Crosse and the Churchill River, a major tributary in the Hudson Bay drainage basin. There is a campground at the north-east corner of the lake and both the lake and campground are accessed from Highway 224. Matheson House is a historic house in Perth, Ontario, Canada. It was constructed in 1840 for Roderick Matheson, a local merchant and later a member of the Senate of Canada. A two-storey, five-Bay (architecture), bay sandstone house of Palladian architecture, Palladian-inspired design, Matheson House is surrounded by a stone garden wall. After Roderick Matheson's death in 1873, the house was inherited by Arthur James Matheson, a lawyer and member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. After a series of subsequent owners, the house was acquired by the municipality and became the Perth Museum.
