MasterChef Australia (series 6)
The sixth series of the Australian cooking game show ''MasterChef Australia'' premiered on Monday, 5 May 2014 on Network Ten. This series was won by Brent Owens in the final against Laura Cassai on 28 July 2014. Owens is the last male winner until Sashi Cheliah from tenth series. Changes In a reversal from the previous season, the audition and preliminary stages were again broadcast as part of the series, and the weekly theme format was dropped. Series 6 also introduced the "power apron", which granted its wearer a number of advantages and control across a series of challenges. In elimination challenges and pressure tests, the contestant wore black aprons with their name in it. The same type of aprons were used by eliminated contestants in week 8 of the 5th season of Masterchef Australia. MasterChef Australia (series 15)
The fifteenth series of the Australian cooking game show ''MasterChef Australia'' premiered on 7 May 2023 on Network 10 and concluded on 16 July 2023. The series was originally announced at Paramount's and Network 10's upfronts in October 2022. Subtitled ''Secrets & Surprises'', the season featured 18 contestants, with 17 new to the show. Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, and Jock Zonfrillo returned to the show as judges from the previous season. The series was originally scheduled to premiere on 1 May 2023. However, following Zonfrillo's death on 30 April, the premiere was postponed until 7 May. Filming of the season had been completed in March 2023 and was thus unaffected by the death of Zonfrillo. The premiere was preceded by a special edition of ''The Sunday Project'' that paid tribute to Zonfrillo. Jock Zonfrillo
Barry "Jock" Zonfrillo (4 August 1976 – 1 May 2023) was a Scottish chef, television presenter and restaurateur. He was the founder of the Orana Foundation and a judge on ''MasterChef Australia''. Early life Zonfrillo was born in Glasgow, Scotland and raised in Ayr. His father, Ivan, was a barber and his mother, Sarah, was a hairdresser.
