Marşandiz Yard
Marşandiz Yard (), also known as the Ankara Railway Factory (), is a large mixed-use rail yard and maintenance facility in Ankara, Turkey. The sprawling complex consists of two rail yards, one for freight and one for passenger trains, a large maintenance facility consisting of locomotive and railcar maintenance and repair shops, freight warehouses and also houses the TCDD District 2 General Headquarters, along with other administrative facilities. The yard is the largest rail complex in Turkey, covering about . Located in the industrial Bahçekapı neighborhood in Etimesgut, it is situated along the Istanbul-Ankara railway; Marşandiz station is served by Başkentray commuter trains. Ankara Station
Ankara railway station () is the main railway station in Ankara, Turkey, and is a major transportation hub within the city. The station is on the rail corridor which connects east and west Turkey, which is high speed between Istanbul and Sivas. Ankara station is also a hub for YHT high-speed trains, with its own exclusive platforms and concourse. TCDD Taşımacılık also operates intercity train service to Kars, Tatvan and Kurtalan as well as Başkentray commuter rail service. Located within the historic Ulus quarter, the station is a landmark of the city. In 2016, a new building was opened above the YHT platforms known as Ankara Tren Garı (ATG). TCDD E52500
TCDD E52500 is a series of electric locomotives used by the Turkish State Railways, comprising 22 class 441-9 locomotives leased from Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine in Bosnia-Herzegovina. They are used throughout the electrified parts of the Turkish rail network. The locomotives have a power output of 3,860 kW and are capable of 120, 140 or 160 km/h speed depending on the version. History The locomotives were originally built from 1967 onwards for Yugoslav Railways by ASEA of Sweden and Končar in Croatia, then part of Yugoslavia. They were based on ASEA's Rb design for Swedish Railways. The first fifteen locomotives were delivered to TCDD in 1998, followed by five more in 1999 and two in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Etimesgut Yard
The Etimesgut High-speed rail maintenance facility (), officially known as the Main High-speed rail Maintenance Facility (), is a passenger rail yard used exclusively for YHT high-speed train-sets in Ankara, Turkey. Located in the Etiler neighborhood in northwestern Etimesgut, it is the second largest rail yard in Turkey spanning over . The yard contains a large high-speed rail maintenance shop together with a high-speed rail focused training facility for employees. A wide turning loop, facing east, spans the perimeter of the facility. Ankara West YHT station is under construction, just south of the facility, and will become a main railway station in west Ankara; it is scheduled to open by December 2017. Entrance to the facility is via the D.140, from the north. Construction of the facility began in late 2013, on land bought from the ''Etimesgut Sugar Factory'', and completed in February 2016. Yüksek Hızlı Tren or YHT () is a high-speed rail service operated by TCDD Transport in Turkey. Branded as "YHT", they are TCDD Transport's flagship passenger train service and the only high-speed rail service in the country. As of 2025, the network spans and serves major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, Eskişehir, İzmit, Konya, and Sivas. Expansion of the system is underway and the network is expected to reach Edirne, Afyonkarahisar, Adana, and İzmir in the 2020s. High-speed rail in Turkey was originally planned to be built as early as 1975, but it wasn't until 2003 that the construction of the Ankara-Istanbul high-speed railway began. Sincan is a municipality and metropolitan district of Ankara Province, Turkey. Its area is 880 km2, and its population is 572,609 (2022). It is a large town 27 km from the city of Ankara. Ulus, Ankara
Ulus is a quarter in Ankara, Turkey and is located at the center of the capital city. It was once the heart of old Ankara. The name means "tribe, nation" in Turkish language, Turkish. It is now a predominantly a commercial and tourist area made up of banks, malls, shops, hotels, businesses, restaurants, and many historical sites. The first Turkish Grand National Assembly convened here in 1923 in the parliament building at Ulus Square (), which still stands in original.
