Nayarit, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Nayarit, is one of the 31 states that, along with Mexico City, comprise the Political divisions of Mexico, Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in Municipalities of Nayarit, 20 municipalities and its capital city is Tepic. It is bordered by the states of Sinaloa to the northwest, Durango to the north, Zacatecas to the northeast and Jalisco to the south. The Party of the Democratic Revolution (, , PRD) is a state-level social democracy, social democratic political party in Mexico (previously national, until 2024). The PRD originated from the Democratic Current, a political faction formed in 1986 from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). The PRD was formed after the contested 1988 Mexican general election, general election in 1988, which the PRD's immediate predecessor, the National Democratic Front (Mexico), National Democratic Front, believed was rigged by the PRI. Tepic
Tepic () is the capital and largest city of the western Mexico, Mexican Political divisions of Mexico, state of Nayarit, as well as the seat of the Tepic Municipality. Located in the central part of the state, it stands at an altitude of above sea level, on the banks of the Río Mololoa and the Río Tepic, approximately north-west of Guadalajara, Jalisco. The Municipality of Tepic is one of the 20 municipalities dividing the Mexican state of Nayarit, being the most populous and most densely populated municipality in Nayarit; its head city (the seat of the municipal government), the city of Tepic, is also the capital of the state. Ney González Sánchez (born January 25, 1963) is a Mexican politician and a former governor of Nayarit (2005 – September 18, 2011). In 2000–2002 he served as a Chamber of Deputies (Mexico), federal deputy in the LVIII Legislature of the Mexican Congress, 58th Congress, representing the Second federal electoral district of Nayarit, second district of Nayarit.
