Martín Yanzón
Martín Yanzón (1799 – 29 July 1842 ) was an Argentina, Argentine soldier and ''caudillo'' who died fighting against the supporters of the dictator Juan Manuel de Rosas. Early years Martín Yanzón was born in San Juan, Argentina in 1799. He joined the Army of the Andes in 1818, but did not campaign to Chile. He participated in the civil war that shook San Juan Province, Argentina, San Juan Province after the 1820 revolution. He supported the invasion of Facundo Quiroga in 1825, and the Federales (Argentina), Federalist governments that followed. In 1830 he participated in the Battle of Pilar in Mendoza Province, but later submitted to the Unitarian Party, Unitarian government of his province. In 1831 he joined Quiroga's army and fought under his command in the Battle of La Ciudadela, and was promoted to colonel by Governor Valentín Ruiz. San Juan Province, Argentina
San Juan Province () is a Provinces of Argentina, province of Argentina, located in the western part of the country. Neighbouring provinces are, moving clockwise from the north, La Rioja Province (Argentina), La Rioja, San Luis Province, San Luis and Mendoza Province, Mendoza. It borders with Chile to the west. Nazario Benavídez
José Nazario Benavídez (27 July 1802 – 23 October 1858) was an Argentine soldier who rose to the rank of Brigadier General and played a leading role in the Argentine Civil Wars. He was Governor of San Juan Province, Argentina, for almost twenty years in the mid-nineteenth century. His lengthy political career during a period of great turbulence was due to the great respect in which he was held by enemies as well as friends. Battle Of Rodeo Del Medio
The Battle of Rodeo del Medio, fought in Mendoza Province, Argentina on 24 September 1841, took place between the Federalist army of Ángel Pacheco and the Unitarian army of Gregorio Aráoz de Lamadrid during the Argentine Civil Wars. The consequences of the Federalist victory would last for a decade. Background In 1840 the Northern Coalition had formed an alliance of almost all the northern provinces against the governor of Buenos Aires Province, Juan Manuel de Rosas, and his allies. General Juan Lavalle had spent more than a year fighting Rosas in Entre Ríos and Corrientes, when he had invaded Buenos Aires Province. Gregorio Aráoz De Lamadrid
Comandante General Gregorio Aráoz de Lamadrid (or "de La Madrid"; 28 November 1795 in San Miguel de Tucumán – 5 January 1857 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine military officer and briefly, governor of several provinces like Córdoba, Mendoza and his native province of Tucumán. Lamadrid fought beside General Belgrano and General San Martín during the Argentine War of Independence, as a prominent cavalry officer of the Army of the North, where he won a number of famous small actions in Upper Peru such as Tambo Nuevo in 1813 and Culpina in 1816. As a general commanding Unitarian forces in the civil wars which followed, Lamadrid fought alongside General José María Paz in the battles of La Tablada, San Roque, and Oncativo. Tomás Brizuela
Tomás Brizuela (c. 1800 – 20 June 1841 ) was a soldier and ''caudillo'' in Argentina. He was a lieutenant of Facundo Quiroga in his home province of La Rioja, and governor of La Rioja between 1836 and 1841, Brizuela died fighting against the dictatorship of Juan Manuel de Rosas. Early career Tomás Brizuela was born in the Province of La Rioja around 1800. He was known as the "Zarco" for his blue eyes. As a young man he joined the Federalist forces. He accompanied Quiroga in the Battle of El Tala against Gregorio Aráoz de Lamadrid, and as infantry leader in the Battle of Rincón de Valladares, where he earned promotion to Colonel. He later fought in the Federal defeat of the Battle of La Tablada. When the province was invaded by Lamadrid, after the Federal defeat in the Battle of Oncativo he was taken prisoner by Lieutenant Colonel Melián. Lamadrid ordered him shot, but Melián saved his life.
