Martín Caparrós (born May 29, 1957) is an Argentine writer, journalist, essayist and social commentator. As an author he is widely known for his detailed and insightful works of fiction and non-fiction. Some of his most notable books include , , and . His books have been translated into numerous languages, earning him widespread acclaim. Biography His father was Antonio Caparrós, a renowned psychiatrist. Caparrós began professional writing at age sixteen. His first professional job in journalism was with the now-defunct daily ''Noticias''. He also wrote extensively for international publications, including ''The New York Times'', ''The Guardian'', ''El País'', and ''The Washington Post''. Caparrós has also been active in various social and political causes. He has campaigned for greater democratic participation in Latin America and to raise awareness about poverty, inequality, and human rights issues. Contrakultura Films
Contrakultura Films was an imprint of Iruña Films, SA a Buenos Aires, Argentina, film production effort dedicated to producing biographical documentaries on Latin American writers. Production offices were located in San Telmo, Buenos Aires, San Telmo. Soledad Liendo, Leonardo Hussen and Rodolfo Durán were among the producers. The initiative later expanded to visual artists including Andrés Waissman and Humberto Calzada, and social scientists such as León Rozitchner, Ismael Viñas, Juan José Sebreli, Juan Jose Sebreli and Jorge Lovisolo. Contrakultura existed between 2002 and 2006 producing approximately twenty-five documentaries with the support of INCAA, Fondo Nacional de las Artes, and the Ministerio de Cultura de la Nación.
