Martha Palafox Gutiérrez
Martha Palafox Gutiérrez (23 February 1949 – 17 March 2022) was a Mexican lawyer and politician. At different times, she was affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), the Labor Party (Mexico), Labor Party (PT) and the National Regeneration Movement (Morena). Martha Palafox Gutiérrez was born in Huamantla, Tlaxcala, on 23 February 1949. She earned a law degree from the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala (UAT) and, in 1965, became a member of the PRI. She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies (Mexico), Chamber of Deputies for the LVII Legislature of the Mexican Congress, 57th Congress (1997–2000), representing Third Federal Electoral District of Tlaxcala, Tlaxcala's 3rd district for the PRI. Electoral Regions Of Mexico
The electoral regions (''circunscripciones electorales'') of Mexico are geographic areas composed of various states used for the election of the 200 proportional representation legislators to the Chamber of Deputies. The country is split into five separate regions. Each of the five regions elects 40 deputies, who are selected according to party lists in the regions. To distinguish them from those elected in the 300 single-member constituencies, they are often referred to as " plurinominal deputies". In contrast, the 32 senators-at-large elected to the Senate by the principle of proportional representation are drawn from party lists covering the entire country; the electoral regions therefore play no role in Senate elections. Distribution The electoral regions are intended to ensure a roughly equal distribution of population among the regions and may be modified by the National Electoral Institute.
