Marnus Labuschagne
Marnus Labuschagne ( or ; born 22 June 1994) is an Australian international cricketer who captains Queensland and plays for Glamorgan in county cricket and for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League. Labuschagne was once ranked as high as no.1 in the Test batting rankings. He was a member of the Australian team that won the 2023 WTC and the 2023 ODI World Cup. He represented Queensland at various levels in junior cricket, before making his first-class cricket debut in 2014. In August 2019, Labuschagne was the first cricketer to become a concussion substitute in a Test match, replacing Steve Smith. Labuschagne was the leading run-scorer in Test matches in 2019. Headingley Stadium
Headingley Stadium is a stadium complex in Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, and England. Linked by a two-sided stand housing common facilities, it comprises two separate grounds: Headingley Cricket Ground (home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Yorkshire CCC) and Headingley Rugby Stadium (home of Leeds Rhinos, Leeds Rhinos RLFC). 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship
The 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship was the second edition of the ICC World Test Championship of Test cricket. It started on 4 August 2021 and finished with the Final on 7–11 June 2023 at The Oval, London, played between Australia and India. The five-match Pataudi Trophy between England and India, started 4 August 2021, started the second cycle of the World Test Championship. That series, along with the Ashes in December 2021, were the only two series comprising five Tests in the second WTC cycle. New Zealand were the defending champions. ICC Player Rankings
The International Cricket Council player rankings is a widely followed system of rankings for international cricketers based on their recent performances. The current sponsor is MRF Tyres who signed a 4-year deal with the ICC that will last until 2020. The ratings were developed at the suggestion of Ted Dexter in 1987. The intention was to produce a better indication of players' current standing in the sport than is provided by comparing their averages. Career averages are based on a player's entire career and do not make any allowance for match conditions or the strength of the opposition, whereas the ratings are weighted towards recent form and account for match conditions and the quality of the opponent using statistical algorithms. Initially the rankings were for Test cricket only, but separate One Day International rankings were introduced in 1998. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. The 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup was the 13th edition of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, a quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It was hosted from 5 October to 19 November 2023 across ten venues in India. This was the fourth World Cup held in India, but the first where India was the sole host. 2023 ICC World Test Championship Final
The final of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship, a Test cricket, Test cricket match, was played from 7 to 11 June 2023 at The Oval, London, between Australia national cricket team, Australia and India national cricket team, India. Big Bash League
The Big Bash League (BBL), also known as the KFC Big Bash League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Australia. Established in 2011 by Cricket Australia, the Big Bash League replaced the previous competition, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and features eight city-based franchises instead of the six state teams which had participated previously. The competition has been sponsored by fast food chicken outlet KFC since its inception. It was in 2016/17 one of the two T20 cricket leagues, alongside the Indian Premier League, to feature amongst the top ten domestic sport leagues in average attendance. Inter-county cricket matches have been played since the early 18th century, involving teams that are representative of the historic counties of England and Wales.
