Marmayogi
''Marmayogi'' () is a 1951 Indian Tamil-language swashbuckler film directed by K. Ramnoth and produced by M. Somasundaram. An adaptation of the novel ''Vengeance'' by Marie Corelli and William Shakespeare's play ''Macbeth'', the film was shot simultaneously in Hindi as ''Ek Tha Raja'' (). It stars M. G. Ramachandar, Anjali Devi and Madhuri Devi, with S. V. Sahasranamam, Serukalathur Sama (playing the title role), N. Seetharaman, S. A. Natarajan, M. N. Nambiar and M. Pandari Bai in supporting roles. Development of the film began after the success of '' Rajakumari'' (1947), when Ramachandran approached writer A. S. A. Sami to write a script which revolves around him. Sami wrote a script inspired by ''Vengeance'', ''Macbeth'', and Robin Hood. S. M. Subbaiah Naidu and C. R. Subbaraman composed all the songs in the soundtrack album. M. Masthan and W. R. ''Marmayogi'' () is a 1964 Indian Telugu-language swashbuckler film, produced by S. K. Habibulla and directed by B. A. Subba Rao. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna Kumari and Kanta Rao, with music composed by Ghantasala. The film is a remake of the 1951 Tamil film of the same name. Plot Once upon a time in a kingdom, the King (Gummadi) is attracted to a court dancer Chenchala (Leelavathi), and decides to marry her. The King's brother-in-law Purushotham (A. V. Subba Rao), Chief Commander, obstructs his way and the King ostracises him from the kingdom. After the marriage, Chenchala kills the King along with two princes by pushing him off a boat and usurping his powers. Anjali Devi (; 24 August 1927 – 13 January 2014) was an Indian actress, model and producer in Telugu and Tamil films. Jupiter Pictures ( ta, ஜுபிடர் பிக்ச்சர்ஸ்) was an Indian feature film production company founded in Coimbatore in 1934 by M. Somasundaram (popularly known as "Jupiter Somu") and S.K. Mohideen. Jupiter Pictures was a major production house with 46 releases with 36 films released in Tamil, 5 in Telugu, 2 each in Kannada and Hindi and one joint release in Tamil and Telugu. In the late 40s and early 50s, they operated out of Central Studios in Coimbatore. Following the closure of the studio, they relocated to Chennai and took over Neptune Studio in Adayar which would later become Sathya Studios.
