Toronto Marlies
The Toronto Marlies are a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto. They compete in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a member of the North Division of the Eastern Conference. The Marlies are owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, a company that owns several professional sports teams in the city, including their NHL affiliate, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Marlies have played their home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum since 2005. The Marlies were established as the New Brunswick Hawks in 1978. The team relocated three times, to St. Catharines Saints, St. Catharines, Newmarket Saints, Newmarket, and St. John's Maple Leafs, St. John's, before relocating to Toronto in 2005. Marlies Oberholzer (born 25 April 1958 in Goldingen) is a retired Swiss alpine skier who competed in the 1976 Winter Olympics. Marlies Oberholzer grew up in Goldingen SG, practically next to the mountain railroads at Atzmännig. Her father was operations manager there for 30 years. At a young age she joined the Goldingen ski club. Later she moved to Wangen. Career Marlies Oberholzer stood on the podium of a World Cup race at the age of 17 on January 21, 1976. Marliese Echner-Klingmann (26 January 1937 – 16 November 2020) was a German poet and playwright. Biography Born as Marie-Elisabeth Echner in Heidelberg, Echner-Klingmann grew up in Eschelbronn. She worked as an office administration clerk until her marriage in 1959. She had two children: Her son Michael, born in 1961 and her daughter Christiane, born in 1964. She began writing at the middle of the 1960s. In 1988, Echner-Klingmann founded the acting-group "Sellemols" in Eschelbronn. She died at 16 November 2020 and is buried at the Cemetery of Eschelbronn. Marlies Verbruggen (born 8 January 1988) is a Belgian footballer, who has represented the national side on 41 occasions. At club level, she most recently played for Anderlecht. Club career Verbruggen was part of the Sint-Truidense team that won the 2009–10 Belgian Women's First Division. In 2013, Verbruggen signed for Beerschot AC, who were playing in the BeNe League. Prior to the 2013–14 season starting, the team moved to Antwerp and became Royal Antwerp, and Verbruggen captained Antwerp in the 2013–14 season. Marlies Raich (née Schild, born 31 May 1981) is a retired Austrian FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer. She specializes in the technical disciplines of Slalom skiing, slalom and giant slalom. Schild won four Alpine skiing at the Winter Olympics, Olympic medals, with silvers in the combined (2006) and slalom (2010, 2014) and a bronze in slalom (2006).
