Mark Callahan
Mark Allen Callahan (born May 11, 1977) is an American information technology consultant and perennial candidate. He was the Republican nominee in the 2016 United States Senate election in Oregon. Political career Callahan is known as a perennial candidate, having frequently sought office since 2009 in both Oregon and most recently in Texas. Callahan sought appointment to a seat in the Oregon Senate in 2009 as a Democrat. In 2010, he ran for the Lane County Commission. Later in 2010, Callahan ran for the Oregon House of Representatives, unsuccessfully seeking the nomination of the Independent Party of Oregon before receiving the nomination of the Pacific Green Party, in what he later said was an attempt to take away votes from the Democratic incumbent, Nancy Nathanson, in order to help the Republican nominee win. A dummy candidate is a candidate who stands for election, usually with no intention or realistic chance of winning. Purposes A dummy candidate can serve any of the following purposes: * In instant-runoff voting, a dummy candidate may direct preferences to other candidates in order to increase the serious candidate's share of the vote. * A dummy candidate may be used by a serious candidate to overcome limits on advertising or campaign financing. Nigel Jaquiss
Nigel Jaquiss (born 1962) is an American journalist who won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting, for his work exposing former Oregon Governor Neil Goldschmidt's sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl while he was mayor of Portland, Oregon. His story was published in ''Willamette Week'' in May 2004. He continues to write for ''Willamette Week''.
