Mario Andreacchio is an Australian film producer/director. Early life and education Mario Andreacchio was born in Leigh Creek, South Australia to Italian parents. He graduated from Flinders University with a degree in Psychology and went on to train as a director at the Australian Film and Television School. Career Andreacchio has directed feature films, television specials, telemovies, children's mini-series, and documentaries. Leigh Creek, South Australia
Leigh Creek is a former coal-mining town in eastern central South Australia. At the 2016 census, Leigh Creek had a population of 245, a 55% decrease from 550 in the previous census in 2011. Situated to the west of the northern Flinders Ranges, the current town is 13 km further south than the original town—it was moved in 1982 to allow for the expansion of the mine. As a result, most facilities and buildings in the town are only a little over thirty years old, and with relatively modern designs. The mine and associated railway station are named Telford. History The area was named Leigh's Creek after its first settler, Harry Leigh, in 1856. Coal was discovered and small quantities mined from 1888 from an underground mine. The town to support the mine at that time was called Copley, after William Copley, an MP and Commissioner of Crown Lands. George Edward Negus AM (13 March 1942 – 15 October 2024) was an Australian journalist, author, television and radio presenter specialising in international affairs. He was a pioneer of Australian broadcast journalism, first appearing on the ABC's ''This Day Tonight'' and later on ''60 Minutes''. Negus was known for making complex international and political issues accessible to a broad audience through his down-to-earth, colloquial presentation style. His very direct interviewing technique occasionally caused confrontation, famously with Margaret Thatcher, but also led to some interviewees giving more information than they had given in other interviews. Elephants are the largest living land animals.
