Orienteering
Orienteering is a group of sports that involve using a map and compass to navigation, navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain whilst moving at speed. Participants are given a topographical map, usually a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find Control point (orienteering), control points. Originally a training exercise in Land navigation (military), land navigation for military officers, orienteering has developed many variations. Among these, the oldest and the most popular is foot orienteering. For the purposes of this article, foot orienteering serves as a point of departure for discussion of all other variations, but almost any sport that involves racing against a clock and requires navigation with a map is a type of orienteering. Espoon Suunta
{{notability, Sports, date=January 2018 Espoon Suunta (EsSu) is an orienteering club based in Espoo, Finland with a strong interest in advancing the elite orienteering as well as youth orienteering and adult fitness orienteering in the western Helsinki capital area. Espoon Suunta is one of biggest Finnish orienteering clubs having 680 members (2013). Espoon Suunta was founded in 1988, when two clubs: Espoon Rasti and Reima -34 (originally Helsinki-based Kruununhaan Reima) joined to form a new and strong club based on the developing youth work. Reima's youth team had won the Nuorten Jukola Relay in 1988 (Jukola for Youth). Reima was one of the clubs to take part in the first Jukola Relay in 1949. EsSu's best placing in the relay has been in 1998 as 5th. Bækkelagets Sportsklub is a Norwegian sports club from Bekkelaget in southern Oslo, founded in 1909. The club has sections for skiing (including ski jumping and biathlon), orienteering, handball, football, floorball and track and field athletics, previously also bandy. It is known for organizing one of the world's largest youth football tournaments, Norway Cup. Handball The club consists of 850 active handball players. The women's handball team won the Women's EHF Cup Winner's Cup in 1997/1998, and again in 1998/1999. The club also reached the final in EHF Women's Champions Trophy the same two seasons. Angelniemen Ankkuri is an orienteering club in Salo, Finland, Salo, Finland. It was founded in 1946 as club for sports and gymnastics, but nowadays it has only orienteering. Its members have won 17 medals in Finnish championships. It has won Tiomila, the Venla relay and the Jukola relay.
