Manuel Zamarreño Villoria
Manuel Zamarreño Villoria (San Sebastián, January 6, 1955 - Rentería, June 25, 1998) was a Spanish politician assassinated by Basque terrorist group ETA Biography Manuel Zamarreño Villoria was killed by ETA in Rentería on June 25, 1998. He had been a councillor for 34 days in Rentería, replacing the also assassinated José Luis Caso, coppersmith as a profession, although he was unemployed. He was married and had two children. Murder Before being assassinated, Manuel Zamarreño had suffered attacks and threats. ETA set his vehicle on fire. On the morning of June 25, 1998, at about 11:10 a.m. Manuel Zamarreño left his home in the neighbourhood of Capuchinos de Rentería, to buy bread. Upon returning, ETA activated the three kilos of amonal that had been placed on a motorcycle that was parked on the sidewalk and whose pump was activated from distance. Errenteria (, ) is a town located in the province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Autonomous Community, in the north of Spain, near the French border. The river Oiartzun (river), Oiartzun cuts its way through the town, one that has undergone severe pollution up to recent times on its lower stage. José Luis Caso Cortines
José Luis Caso Cortines (Comillas April 15, 1933 – Irun December 11, 1997) was a Spanish politician, a victim of ETA. Biography José Luis Caso Cortines was born in Comillas in a large family. Even though he was born in Cantabria, he moved to the Basque Country at the age of 22 in the 50s. He was the founder of Alianza Popular in the Basque country in 1982. Later, he was President of the People's Party of Irun as well as Councillor there, where he was living. Jose Luis was retired and had been working as a councillor for the People's Party (PP) in Renteria ( Guipuzcoa) since 1995. The attack took place at the end of 1997. He also belonged to the Board of Directors of Guipuzcoa's PP and the Board of Directors of PP of the Basque Country. He was a married man with two children and a granddaughter.
