Hutt River, New Zealand
The Hutt River (, or ; officially Te Awa Kairangi / Hutt River) flows through the southern North Island of New Zealand. It flows south-west from the southern Tararua Range for , forming a number of fertile floodplains, including Kaitoke, central Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt. The Hutt River Trail, a regional park administered by Wellington Regional Council, runs alongside the eastern side of the river. Toponymy Early Māori residents, such as Ngāi Tara, called the river Te Awa Kairangi. Later Māori settlers named it Te Wai o Orutu after Orutu, a Ngāti Mamoe ancestor. Taitā railway station is a suburban railway station serving Taitā in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The station is located on the Hutt Valley section of the Wairarapa Line, north of Wellington. The station is served by Metlink's electric multiple unit trains of the "Matangi" FP class. The station has an island platform between double tracks. History Taitā railway station opened on 14 April 1947, when a single-track extension of the then Hutt Valley Branch from Naenae to Taitā (then known as Taita) opened. The station originally only had one platform (the current up platform) in operation; the second platform opened when track was laid in 1952. State Highway 58 (SH 58) is a New Zealand state highway in the Wellington Region linking the Hutt Valley to Porirua City. Route The two-lane highway covers and connects State Highway 2 from a junction at Haywards north of Lower Hutt to State Highway 59 at Paremata, north of the Porirua City Centre. Pomare railway station is an intermediate railway station in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, served by Metlink's electric multiple-unit trains of the "Matangi" FP class, on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line. The island platform station between double tracks serves the suburb of Pomare and provides the nearest rail connection for Stokes Valley.
