Florián Rey
Antonio Martínez del Castillo known professionally as Florián Rey was a Spanish director, actor, and screenwriter. He directed '' The Cursed Village'', widely recognized as a seminal work in silent Spanish cinema, and helped launch the career of famed Argentinian–Spanish actress Imperio Argentina. Early career While in his teens, Rey began work as a journalist for multiple newspapers in his home province of Zaragoza and nearby Madrid. ''Don Quixote'' or ''Don Quixote de la Mancha'' ( Spanish: ''Don Quijote de la Mancha'') is the first sound film version in Spanish of the novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. It was directed and adapted by Rafael Gil and released in 1947. A huge undertaking for Spanish cinema in its day, it was the longest film version of the novel up to that time (two hours and twelve minutes, plus an intermission), and very likely the most faithful, reverently following the book in its dialogue and order of episodes, unlike G.W. Pabst's 1933 version and the later Russian film version, which scrambled up the order of the adventures as many film versions do. Characters such as Cardenio, Dorotea, and Don Fernando, which are usually omitted because their respective subplots have little to do with the main body of the novel, were kept in this film. Antonio Román
Antonio Román (9 November 1911 – 16 June 1989) was a prolific Spain, Spanish film director, screenwriter, film producer. Antonio Román was born Ourense, Spain on 9 November 1911. Román began directing films in the later 1930s starting with documentaries. His first dramatic feature film was ''Esquadrilla''. His other work includes an adaptation of ''Lola Montes (1944 film), Lola Montes'' and ''La Fierecilla domada'', a retelling of ''The Taming of the Shrew''. Many of these films star his wife, actress Yvonne Bastien. Román has won several international awards such as Golden Olive Tree from the Cine de Humor de Bordighera in Italy for ''Bombas para la paz'' and an award for ''Pacto de silencio'' from the Cork Festival in Ireland. Román died on 16 June 1989. Prior to his death, he worked with Radio Exterior.
