Mannequin (1987 Film)
''Mannequin'' is a 1987 American romantic comedy film directed by Michael Gottlieb in his directorial debut, and written by Edward Rugoff and Gottlieb. It stars Andrew McCarthy, Kim Cattrall, Estelle Getty, James Spader, Meshach Taylor, and G. W. Bailey. The original music score was composed by Sylvester Levay. The film revolves around a chronically underemployed passionate artist named Jonathan Switcher who lands a job as a department-store window dresser and the mannequin he created which becomes inhabited by the spirit of a woman from Ancient Egypt, but only comes alive for Jonathan. ''Mannequin'' received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for its main title song, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship, which reached number one on both the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. Michael Gottlieb (director)
Michael Bernard Gottlieb (April 12, 1945 – May 23, 2014) was an American film director and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the films ''Mannequin'' (1987) and '' A Kid in King Arthur's Court'' (1995). Following the release of ''A Kid in King Arthur's Court'', Gottlieb transitioned into video game industry, working as a producer for the remainder of his entertainment career. On May 23, 2014, Gottlieb was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Angeles Crest Highway in La Cañada Flintridge, California. He was 69 years old. At the time of Gottlieb's death he was a professor of film at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, teaching screenwriting in both the graduate and undergraduate departments. The Academy Award for Best Original Song is one of the awards given annually to people working in the Film industry, motion picture industry by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Phyllis Newman
Phyllis Newman (March 19, 1933 – September 15, 2019) was an American actress and singer. She won the 1962 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Martha Vail in the musical '' Subways Are for Sleeping'' on Broadway, received the Isabelle Stevenson Award in 2009 and was nominated another Tony for '' Broadway Bound'' (1987), as well as two nominations for Drama Desk Awards. Christopher Maher
Christopher Maher (born as Maher Boutros; born 1955) is an American film and television actor, as well as a chef. Background Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Maher's family moved to Toronto in the 1960s. Steve Vinovich (born January 22, 1945) is an American actor. Biography Vinovich was born on January 22, 1945, in Peoria, Illinois.
