Mannen Från Mallorca
Mannen () is a mountain in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The tall mountain is located just west of Horgheim, along the river Rauma in the Romsdalen valley. Mannen has a distinctive needle peak. The mountain's shape has been compared to an enormous seated goose that looks out over the Rauma valley, from which it can easily be seen. Overview A major landslide of up to of material is said to be impending on the unstable mountainside, so an emergency preparedness service, the Åknes/Tafjord intermunicipal company (IKS), has closely monitored the area since 2009. Even a smaller slide of about could cross the valley floor, potentially devastating buildings and damaging the Rauma Line railway and European route E136. Rauma Line
The Rauma Line () is a long railway between the town of Åndalsnes (in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county), and the village of Dombås (in Dovre Municipality in Innlandet county), in Norway. Running down the Romsdalen valley, the line opened between 1921 and 1924 as a branch of the Dovre Line, which connects to the cities of Oslo and Trondheim. Originally intended as the first stage to connect Ålesund (town), Ålesund, and possibly also Molde (town), Molde and Kristiansund (town), Kristiansund, no extensions have ever been realized. The unelectrified line is served four times daily with SJ Norge's NSB Class 93, Class 93, although in the summer the service only operates from Åndalsnes to Bjorli as a tourist service. Anders Beer Wilse
Anders Beer Wilse (12 June 1865 – 21 February 1949) was a Norway, Norwegian photographer who documented Norway in the early to mid-20th century and also worked in the United States. Wilse was born in Flekkefjord, but grew up in Kragerø and decided early to become a sailor. After having graduated with a technical degree from the technical school in Horten in 1882, Wilse emigrated to the United States in 1884. He did not find work in the beginning, but eventually settled in Seattle working for the United States Geological Survey. He is reported to have acquired his first camera in 1886. He opened a photography store in Seattle in 1897, after having visited Norway, and married Helen Marie Hutchinson. Rauma (river)
The Rauma is a river that runs through the Romsdalen valley in Møre og Romsdal and Innlandet counties in Norway. It runs for from the lake Lesjaskogsvatnet in Lesja Municipality (in Innlandet county), through the valley all the way to the town of Åndalsnes in Rauma Municipality (in Møre og Romsdal county) where it empties into the Romsdalsfjorden. The river was once famous for its salmon-fishing, but since an infection with '' Gyrodactylus salaris'' only 5 to 10% of the original stock survives. Romsdalen is a valley in the western part of Norway.
