Manada Hill (Manadahill on GNIS records) is an unincorporated community in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States, adjoining the census-designated place of Skyline View. The village is bounded to the east by Interstate 81 and along Route 39 at the intersection with Jonestown Road to the north, Manada View Drive to the south and Manada Creek to the east. History Manada Hill is a historic village named for its hilltop location near a bend in the Manada Creek. It was the only true village of the township, containing a post office and a few stores and shops to supply the surrounding neighborhood. Traveling peddlers provided incidental needs before the establishment of the country store. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and location information about more than two million physical and cultural features, encompassing the United States and its territories; the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau; and Antarctica. It is a type of gazetteer. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) to promote the standardization of feature names. East Hanover Township is a township (Pennsylvania), township in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,021 at the 2020 census. History The township traces its roots to the founding of the Hanover (Presbyterian) church in 1735. Hanover parish broke off of the Derry parish (modern day Hershey) to serve settlers north of the Swatara Creek. The original church is gone, but the cemetery remains between the village of Grantville and the base of the blue mountain. Hanover Township was later divided into East Hanover, West Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, West Hanover, and South Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, South Hanover townships.
