Man Mohan Singh Rai
Lieutenant General Man Mohan Singh Rai, PVSM, AVSM, VSM was the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) of the Indian Army and assumed office on 1 August 2015 following the retirement of Lieutenant General Philip Campose. He retired on 31 July 2016 and was succeeded by General Bipin Rawat. Early life and education Rai is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Pune and passed out third in order of merit. He has attended Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Army War College, Mhow. Career Rai was commissioned into Bombay Sappers on 15 December 1976. He is a third generation officer in the army and has vast operational and command experience. Lieutenant General
Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal. A lieutenant general commands an army corps, made up of typically three army divisions, and consisting of around 60 000 to 70 000 soldiers (U.S.). The seeming incongruity that a lieutenant general outranks a major general (whereas a major outranks a lieutenant) is due to the derivation of major general from sergeant major general, which was a rank subordinate to lieutenant general (as a lieutenant outranks a sergeant major). Philip Campose

He holds a master's degree in philosophy in Defence Management and Security Studies and in Strategic Studies from Indore and Madras Universities respectively. Dalbir Singh
General Dalbir Singh Suhag, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC (born 28 December 1954) is the former Indian High Commissioner to Seychelles and a former Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. He was the 25th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, serving from 31 July 2014 to 31 December 2016, and Vice Chief of the Army Staff prior to that. Early life and education Singh is a third generation soldier who was born on 28 December 1954 to Ishari Devi and Ch Ramphal Singh, a subedar-major in the 18th Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army. Siachen Glacier Medal
The Siachen Glacier Medal is awarded for service in the Siachen conflict along India's northern border with Pakistan. Awarded to the Indian Air Force for Operation Meghdoot, in support of activities in support of troops serving in the Siachen Glacier area since April 1984. Appearance The medal is a circular 36-mm cupro-nickel medal. In the center of the obverse is the Emblem of India, surrounded by the legend ''Siachen Glacier Medal'' in both Hindi and English. The reverse bears a stylized scene of mountains with a soldier and a helicopter. It is suspended by a non-swiveling straight bar and name of the recipient is impressed on the edge. The ribbon is medium blue, wide, with a white centre stripe in width. Rashtriya Rifles
The Rashtriya Rifles (RR; ) is a counter-insurgency force in India, formed in 1990, to specifically serve in the Jammu and Kashmir region. They also maintain public order by drawing powers from the Armed Forces (Jammu and Kashmir) Special Powers Act, 1990 (AFSPA). The RR was raised by the Indian Army by reconstituting two corps (about 75,000 troops). Its personnel are provided by the Indian Army on deputation. The RR is commanded by an Additional Directorate General of Rashtriya Rifles (ADG RR). Crest The RR crest consists of the Ashoka Chakra and two crossed rifles with fixed bayonets. South Western Command (India)
The South Western Command of the Indian Army was established on 15 April 2005 and became fully operational on 15 August 2005.Renaldi and Rikhye 2011, 21 It was in response to the emerging threats and opportunities on the Western Indo-Pak border. Mhow
Mhow, officially Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, is a town in the Indore district in Madhya Pradesh state of India. It is located south-west of Indore city, towards Mumbai on the old Mumbai-Agra Road. The town was renamed as ''Dr. Ambedkar Nagar'' in 2003, by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Etymology Some articles in popular literature state that 'MHOW' stands for Military Headquarters Of War. However, this is a backronym, and there is no proof to support the theory that the name of the village comes from the acronym. The village near Mhow was called Mhow Gaon in the Mughal/ Maratha era, when English was not used in India. The Cantonment which came up in 1818 during the Third Anglo-Maratha War, came to be known as Mhow Cantt after the name of this village. Sir John Malcolm spelt the name of this town as MOW in his writings. The 1918 edition of Encyclopædia Britannica also mentions 'MAU'. The Army War College, Dr.Ambedkar Nagar (A.W.C.) is a defence service training and research institution of the Indian Army located in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. It develops and evaluates concepts and doctrines for tactics and logistics for the army. The college trains about 1,200 officers of the Indian Army, as well as paramilitary forces each year.
