Malvern is a Suburbs of Johannesburg, suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. Situated east of the Johannesburg CBD, it lies south of Kensington, Gauteng, Kensington and north of the industrial suburb of Denver, Gauteng, Denver. It is located in Region F of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and lies just west of Bedfordview in the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. History Prior to the discovery of gold on the Witwatersrand in 1886, the suburb lay on land on one of the original farms that make up Johannesburg, called ''Doornfontein''. South African Standard Time
South African Standard Time (SAST) is the time zone used by all of South Africa as well as Eswatini and Lesotho. The zone is two hours ahead of UTC ( UTC+02:00) and is the same as Central Africa Time. Daylight saving time is not observed in either time zone. Solar noon in this time zone occurs at 30° E in SAST, effectively making Pietermaritzburg at the correct solar noon point, with Johannesburg and Pretoria slightly west at 28° E and Durban slightly east at 31° E. Thus, most of South Africa's population experience true solar noon at approximately 12:00 daily. The western Northern Cape and Western Cape differ, however. Bedfordview is an affluent suburb in western Ekurhuleni, sharing an administrative boundary with the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng, South Africa. Bedfordview has been part of the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality since 2000. Denver, Gauteng
Denver is an industrial suburb in eastern Johannesburg, South Africa, on the railway to Germiston and Hoofrif Road, around 6 km east of City Hall. It borders Benrose to the west, Jeppestown and Malvern to the north, Cleveland to the east, and the François Oberholzer Freeway to the south. There is just a small portion of the suburb in the northwest that has residential zoning; otherwise, Denver consists of industrial land and squatter camps both in the west and up north, the latter largely on Hoofrif Road. Denver was laid out on 25 ha of Doornfontein farm, like all the eastern suburbs of Johannesburg. Owner F.J. Bezuidenhout, for whom Bezuidenhout Valley is named, leased the area in 1903 to a J.H. Kensington is a hilly suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It was established in 1897 by Max Langermann (after whom the thoroughfare Langermann Drive is named). It is located in Region F of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and is bounded to the west by the suburb of Troyeville, to the east by Bedfordview and the north by Bruma and Cyrildene. History Prior to the discovery of gold on the Witwatersrand in 1886, the suburb lay on land of one of the original farms called ''Doornfontein''. Kensington is laid out over the slopes of several koppies (flat-topped, high-sided hills). The streets were laid out in 1903, with the suburb named by the owner of the land, Max Langermann.
