Opera IX
Opera IX is an Italian symphonic black metal band, founded in the city of Biella by the guitarist Ossian in 1988. History Early years: 1990–1995 In 1990 the band made the first demo tape "Gothik". There were many line-up changes, eventually settling with Cadaveria's vocals, Ossian at guitar, Vlad at bass and Flegias at drums. The band's early occult metal sound was switched to a mix of gothic, death, and black metal. The second demo, which contained 4 songs, led to a contract for a 7-inch EP, which came out in 1993. The first 500 copies were sold out in 2 months. In the meantime, the band filmed "The Triumph Of The Death" containing 2 videos: Born In The Grave and The Red Death. At the end of 1993, Silent Bard, a musician with classical background, joined the line-up on keyboard. Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal music, heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. Avantgarde Music is an Italian record label, formed as a continuation of Obscure Plasma Records, focusing on black and doom metal artists. The label had a sub-label called Wounded Love Records, which has released albums by Dolorian and Taake. A new sub-label, Flowing Downward, had been founded in 2018, specializing in atmospheric black metal bands specifically. Cadaveria, real name Raffaella Rivarolo (born 31 May 1972), is an Italian musician famous for being one of the first women to enter the extreme metal scene in the early 1990s, as former vocalist and keyboard player of the symphonic black metal band Opera IX. Biography Cadaveria was born in Turin, Italy, on 31 May 1972. She would join the symphonic black metal band Opera IX in 1992, of which she served as the vocalist and keyboard player until 2001, when she left the band alongside bandmate Alberto "Flegias" Gaggiotti (also a member of extreme metal act Necrodeath) to form a new project. In April 2001 Cadaveria and Flegias (using the pseudonym Marçelo Santos) founded the band CADAVERIA. The name of the band is written in all capital letters to distinguish it from the vocalist's name. Ossian D'Ambrosio (born 18 September 1970 as Luigi D'Ambrosio), also known simply as Ossian, is an Italian Heavy metal music, heavy metal musician, organiser within Druidry (modern), modern Druidry, Art jewelry, artisan jeweler and writer. He is the founder and leader of the Cerchio Druidico Italiano () and creator of an annual Beltane festival in Province of Biella, Biella.
