Mala, Kerala
Mala is a small town in Thrissur district of Kerala state, India. There is a Jewish synagogue in Mala town. At the moment, it is in ruins. The famous Pambu Mekkattu Mana (temple) is located here and attracts thousands of devotees every year. History Mala is a multicultural society. Migrants from different parts of the world settled in Mala; especially noteworthy are the Jews from Palestine (Eretz Israel), Brahmins from the Konkan and Kudumbis and Konkanis from Goa. It had a major inland port, and people from Ambazhakad, Kuzhur, Kadukutty, and other people used to bring their goods to Mala to transport it to Kottapuram or Kochi. The major items of trade were betel leaves, cut stone (Vettu Kall), toddy, coconut, spices, and wood. Today it does not have such importance because of the high network of roads. Mohan Raghavan (22 January 1964 – 25 October 2011) was a Malayalam film director. He studied at the School of Drama, Thrissur, and in Theatre Arts at Madurai Kamaraj University. Joju George
Joseph "Joju" George (born 22 October 1977) is an Indian actor, playback singer, director, writer and producer who primarily works in Malayalam cinema along with Tamil, and Telugu cinemas. Mala Aravindan
Mala Aravindan (15 January 1939 – 28 January 2015) was an Indian actor. He was best known for his work as a comedian and character artist in Malayalam films. He has acted in over 500 films. Early life Aravindan was born at Vadavucode in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, as the eldest son of Thanattu Ayyappan and Ponnamma. His father was an excise department employee, and his mother, a school music teacher. Soudamini, late Ramanathan (died in 2004), and Prakashan are his siblings. Goud Saraswat Brahmin
Gaud Saraswat Brahmins (GSB) (also Goud or Gawd), also known as Shenvis are a Hindu community of contested caste status and identity. They primarily speak Konkani and its various dialects as their mother tongue. They claim to be Saraswat Brahmins who initially migrated to Konkan from Gaud, per Puranic accounts. Upon moving out of Goa during Portuguese occupation, their claims of Brahminhood were rejected both to the north of Goa, by the Deshastha, Chitpavan and Karhade Brahmins of Maharashtra, and to the south, by the Nambudiri Brahmins of Kerala. The GSBs were traditionally traders and even as early as the 1400s they conducted commerce across the Indian Ocean. In the Maratha empire, they also served as administrators.
