Maksut "Maksa" Ćatović ( sr-cyr, Макса Ћатовић, born 9 October 1950) is a Serbs, Serbian film producer and former president of production company Komuna Belgrade, Komuna. Biography Born in Despotovac, People's Republic of Serbia, PR Serbia, Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, FPR Yugoslavia, Ćatović attended and completed his primary and secondary schooling in Novi Pazar. From 1985 Ćatović was the owner and CEO of Komuna, working for films including ''Underground (1995 film), Underground'' Golden Palm winner (1995) and ''Black Cat, White Cat'' Silver Lion winner in Venice (2008). Ćatović worked as a concert organizer and promoter for Luciano Pavarotti, Madonna (entertainer), Madonna, AC/DC, Sting (musician), Sting, Metallica, R.E.M, Jethro Tull (band), Jethro Tull among many others bands that were playing in Serbia and Montenegro. Dara Iz Jasenovca (Dara Of Jasenovac)
''Dara of Jasenovac'' () is a 2021 Serbian historical drama film directed by Predrag Antonijević. Based on the testimonies of survivors, it deals with war crimes and atrocities that took place at Jasenovac concentration camp, which was a part of the Holocaust and the wider genocide of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia. The film was set to premiere in early 2020, commemorating 75 years since the escape of the remaining prisoners from the camp. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the premiere was postponed to 22 October 2020, and then further on to early 2021. It was selected as the Serbian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, although it was not nominated. It was also eligible for Best Picture but it did not make the shortlist. Emir Kusturica ( sr-cyrl, Емир Кустурица, ; born 24 November 1954) is a Serbian film director, screenwriter, actor, film producer and musician. Kusturica has been an active filmmaker since the 1980s. He has competed at the Cannes Film Festival on five occasions and won the Palme d'Or twice (for '' When Father Was Away on Business'' and '' Underground''), as well as the Best Director prize for '' Time of the Gypsies''. Živojin Pavlović
Živojin "Žika" Pavlović (15 April 1933 – 29 November 1998) was a Yugoslav and Serbian film director, writer, painter and professor. In his films and novels, Pavlović depicted the cruel reality of small, poor and abandoned people living in the corners of society. He was one of the major figures of the Black Wave in Yugoslav cinema in the 1960s, a movement which portrayed the darker side of life rather than the shiny facades of communist Yugoslavia. Biography Pavlović was born in Šabac in 1933. When he was 19, he started writing about film and art for Belgrade newspapers. He graduated in painting at the Academy of Applied Arts, University of Belgrade, and directed his first professional film, ''Žive Vode'' (''Living Water'') in 1961. Andrej Aćin
Andrej Aćin is a Serbian director, screenwriter and composer from Belgrade, currently residing in Toronto, Canada. In the 1990s, he fronted the gothic rock band BAAL, with which he released one studio album. After BAAL disbanded in 1995, Aćin released the material intended to be released on the second BAAL album under the name Retro Deux. After cooperating with the French group Noir Désir in the late 1990s, he dedicated himself to film score composing and directing short and documentary films, receiving a number of awards for his work. He graduated from the film directing department of the Belgrade Faculty of Dramatic Arts. Margina (; ) is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of nine villages: Breazova, Bulza, Coșevița, Coșteiu de Sus, Groși, Margina (commune seat), Nemeșești, Sintești and Zorani. Georgi Stoev
Georgi Stoev (; September 26, 1973 – April 7, 2008, Sofia) was a Bulgarian writer and former Bulgarian mafia mobster. Biography As a teenager he trained to be a wrestler and attended "Olympic Hopes" school in Sofia. With the collapse of one-party rule in 1989 the school was closed and the wrestlers formed a mafia which terrorized Bulgaria in the 1990s. Sometime later, Stoev turned away from crime and repented and turned to writing. In his books, which totalled nine by his death, he revealed the secrets to some of the country's most notorious crimes based on his own experiences. He exposed alleged mafia gang members in his books, making no attempt to disguise their identities. He was murdered by what is believed to be the mafia hit on April 7, 2008.
