Majeed Brigade
Majeed Brigade ( Balochi: romanized: ''Majed Bereyagapyede'', ), also spelt Majid Brigade, is a special forces unit of the Balochistan Liberation Army. It is tasked with carrying out high-stakes and unconventional operations against Pakistani security forces. History The group was established in 2010 and named after Majeed Langove Senior aka Abdul Majeed Baloch, a Baloch militant who attempted to assassinate the prime minister at the time, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on August 2, 1974, when he was at a public rally in Quetta as Majeed Senior sat atop of a tree with a grenade before accidentally committing suicide,and Majeed Junior another Baloch militant who was the younger brother of Senior who was killed by members of the Pakistan army on March 17, 2010, in a housing complex in Quetta. Aslam Baloch
Aslam Baloch (1975 – 25 December 2018), also known as Achu (alternatively spelled Achoo and Achou), was a senior commander and founding leader of a splinter fraction of the Balochistan Liberation Army. He was the architect of the Majeed Brigade, a suicide squad responsible for several high-profile attacks. A key figure in the Baloch separatist insurgency, Baloch spent decades engaged in armed struggle against the Pakistani state, advocating for Baloch nationalism and independence. At the time of his death, he was based in Ayno Maina, Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he was killed in a targeted suicide bombing on 25 December 2018. Pakistan Stock Exchange Attack
On 29 June 2020, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) building in Karachi with grenades and by firing indiscriminately. At least three security guards and a police sub-inspector were killed, while seven people were injured during the attack. Police reported that they killed all four attackers within 8 minutes. Attack On 29 June 2020, at 10:02 in the morning, a car carrying the attackers arrived at the Pakistan Stock Exchange on I. I. Chundrigar Road. By 10:10 am, all four attackers were killed by security forces, according to the director-general of the Sindh Rangers. According to Rangers, the attackers aimed "not only to kill but to create a hostage situation". 2024 Quetta Railway Station Bombing
On 9 November 2024, at least 32 people were killed and 55 others were injured in a suicide bombing at Quetta railway station in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack. It was the first time that the BLA had attacked the centre of Quetta. Background The Quetta Railway Station is a major transport hub in Quetta and one of the largest stations in the province of Balochistan. Attack At around 8:25 a.m., a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device on a crowded platform near the ticket office in the station, where around 150 to 200 people were waiting to board a train travelling to Rawalpindi. University Of Karachi Bombing
On 26 April 2022, a suicide bombing hit a van near the University of Karachi's Confucius Institute, killing three Chinese people, Chinese academics and their Pakistani driver. The Balochistan Liberation Army, claimed responsibility, saying that the perpetrator was the organization's first female suicide bomber. Of the three Chinese killed, one was the director of the university's Confucius Institute. The other two were teachers. The National Counter Terrorism Authority (), commonly called NACTA, is a Pakistani internal security organization responsible for making counter terrorism and counter extremism policies and strategies. It also develops action plans against terrorism and extremism and reviews their implementation.
