John A
Sir John Alexander Macdonald (10 or 11January 18156June 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 until his death in 1891. He was the Fathers of Confederation, dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, and had a political career that spanned almost half a century. Macdonald was born in Scotland; when he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, Kingston in the Province of Upper Canada (today in eastern Ontario). As a lawyer, he was involved in several high-profile cases and quickly became prominent in Kingston, which elected him in 1844 to the legislature of the Province of Canada. Roger Mais OJ (; 11 August 1905 – 21 June 1955) was a Jamaican journalist, novelist, poet, and playwright. He was born to a middle-class family in Kingston, Jamaica. ''Mais'' is an album by Brazilian singer Marisa Monte, released in 1991. By the time of the album's release, newspaper ''O Estado de S. Paulo'' praised the album, saying Monte was "less dramatic, with her voice even more tuned and crystalline, which seemed impossible, Monte even commoves. Mayıs () is a village in the Lachin District of Azerbaijan. History The village was located in the Armenian-occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, coming under the control of ethnic Armenian forces during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in the early 1990s. Mais (Bowness)
Maia, or Mais, (with the modern name of Bowness-on-Solway) in Cumbria, England was a Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall, and was the last (or first) fort at the western end of the Wall, overlooking the Solway Firth. Name The ''Ravenna Cosmography'' gives the name of the fort as ''Maia'', and the Rudge Cup, the Amiens Skillet and the Staffordshire Moorlands Pan give the name as ''Mais''. Another name ''Maio'' appears a little earlier in the ''Ravenna Cosmography'' which may well be the same fort. The fort is not mentioned in the ''Notitia Dignitatum''. The name ''Maia'' means "The Larger". The fort was (by a small margin) the second largest fort on Hadrian's Wall. The largest fort was Uxelodunum, not far distant at Stanwix in Carlisle.
