The team compete in Campeonato Carioca, the top tier of the Rio de Janeiro state football league. History The city's most popular team, the Macaé Esporte Futebol Clube was founded on July 17, 1990 as Botafogo Futebol Clube. For eight years, the team only participated in amateur competitions and the first titles came in the middle of the decade, when he became a double champion in the municipality of Macaé (1994 and 1995). But it was from 1998 that the club began to show its "face" to the State of Rio, when the professionalization took place. And soon in its first season, the then Botafogo conquered the State of the Third Division. The Copa Rio () is a regional cup competition for football clubs in the Rio de Janeiro state. It is run by the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation. Volta Redonda has the record for most trophies won. History The competition was founded in 1991 by the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation to decide one of the Rio de Janeiro's Copa do Brasil representatives of the following year (the other being the Campeonato Carioca champion). If the state champion had also won Copa Rio, the representative would have been the tournament runner-up. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D (English: Brazilian Championship Serie D), commonly known as the Série D or the Brazilian Série D to distinguish it from the Italian Serie D, is the fourth division of the Brazilian football league system, and was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on 9 April 2008. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was formed from the split of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, Série C, keeping its best 20 clubs and playing double round robin as does the top three divisions. The Série D keeps the same format of the older Série C, but with participation limited to 40 clubs recognized by the state federation. Felipe de Oliveira Conceição (born 9 July 1979) is a Brazilian professional football coach and former player who played as a forward. Playing career Known as Felipe Tigrão or simply Tigrão as a player, he was a Botafogo youth graduate. Promoted to the first team in 1998, he struggled to make his breakthrough mainly due to injuries, and moved to Juventude in 2002.
