MTA Records
More Than (MTA) Records is an independent record label founded by Chase & Status in 2009, specialising in "exceptional" music. The label releases a large variety of music including rap, soul, drum and bass, dubstep and deep house. It has played a pivotal role in the success of Nero, Redlight, 16bit, Ben Pearce among others, and many of its releases have charted in the United Kingdom. On 19 February 2015, the label competed against Hospital Records, Black Butter Records and 3 Beat Records in BBC Radio 1Xtra's "Best of British Soundclash". Hosted by MistaJam, the event served as an unofficial sequel to Red Bull's ''Culture Clash'' 2014 (also hosted by MistaJam). MTA won, having received the most Twitter votes from listeners. Chase & Status
Chase & Status are an English electronic music duo composed of Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status). In addition, Andy Gangadeen is the drummer when the band performs live. MC Rage formerly performed as MC with the group, but left in July 2021 to focus on solo ventures. The duo are from London, and formed in 2003 after meeting at university in Manchester. The duo have since released seven studio albums and collaborated with major artists such as Plan B, CeeLo Green, Rihanna, Example, Tinie Tempah, and Stormzy. They run the independent record label MTA Records. William Kennard founded ELAM (East London Arts and Music) in 2014. In 2023–24, Chase & Status won their first Brit Award for "Producer of the Year". Black Butter Records is a British record label based in London, England. Founded in 2010 by Olly Wood, Henry Village and Joe Gossa, the self-funded start-up went on to become an established tastemaker label, and one part of a camp of music-related businesses in addition to management and publishing. The record label had early association with Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Jessie Ware, MNEK, and Gorgon City. In a 2013 interview - that recognised the network of artists coming through Black Butter were at the forefront of an emerging scene - Henry said: “People's taste seems really broad right now. You're hearing garage, house, drum'n'bass, pop, reggae and dub, but it all feels like it makes sense. It feels like a really exciting movement going on." Dirtyphonics is a French electronic music band from Paris, consisting of members Charly Barranger and Julien "PitchIn" Corrales. Known for blending Drum and bass, Dubstep, and other bass music genres with heavy metal and cinematic influences, the group has been active since 2004. Signed to labels such as Monstercat, UKF Music, Disciple Records, and Dim Mak Records, Dirtyphonics first gained recognition with their 2008 single "French F**k," which reached number one on Beatport's charts. "Me and You" is a song by British dubstep trio Nero that appears on their debut studio album, '' Welcome Reality''. It was released in the United Kingdom as a digital download on 2 January 2011, with a 12" vinyl available the following day. On 8 January 2011, the single debuted at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart, also managing to top the UK Indie Chart. Despite its name, the single's B-side track "Welcome Reality" is not included on the album of the same name, although a VIP mix of the song can be found in the iTunes deluxe version of the album. Nero (stylised as NERO) are a British electronic music trio composed of members Dan Stephens, Joe Ray and Alana Watson. On 12 August 2011, they released their debut studio album, ''Welcome Reality'', which reached number one in the UK Albums Chart. In August 2012, "Promises (Nero song), Promises" received a Gold certification in the United States. On 10 February 2013, Nero won a Grammy Award for their collaborative remix of "Promises" with Skrillex. Their second studio album, ''Between II Worlds'', was released on 11 September 2015. Welcome Reality
''Welcome Reality'' is the debut album by British dubstep group Nero. A concept album, it was released first in Ireland on 12 August 2011 and the rest of the world on 15 August 2011 except Australia and New Zealand where it was released on 19 August 2011 on Chase & Status's MTA Records. The album has sold 120,000 copies in the United States as of July 2015. Critical response ''Welcome Reality'' has received generally positive reviews. ''Spin'' gave the album a score of 7/10, and wrote, "Alana Watson gives Nero's robotic skronk a rare injection of humanity, and the U.K. producers are smart enough to build most of their debut full-length around her husky voice, skipping the sampled spasticity of Skrillex in favor of Daft Punk's melodic big beat, '80s-inspired electro, and stadium-sized mash-ups of squealing guitar and windy synths." Moko (singer)
Diane Nadia Adu-Gyamfi (born 1991), better known by her stage names Moko or Nadiah Adu-Gyamfi, is a Ghanaian-British soul singer. She rose to fame after featuring on the Chase & Status single " Count on Me". Moko has released two EPs, ''Black'' (2013) and ''Gold'' (2014), on MTA and Virgin EMI. Under the stage name Nadiah Adu-Gyamfi, she won the £500,000 jackpot on ITV music game show ''Walk the Line'' in December 2021. Early life and education Moko was born and raised in New Cross, London. Her mother is of Ghanaian descent and her grandmother is Chinese. She began singing in her local church choir as a child.
