MS SeaFrance Cézanne
MS ''SeaFrance Cézanne'' was a ferry launched in 1979 as the ''Ariadne''. Starting life in the Mediterranean, she has spent the majority of her career serving the Dover-Calais cross channel ferry route with successive operators, Sealink, SNCF & SeaFrance, was taken out of service in February 2009 and scrapped in 2011-12 Early years The ''SeaFrance Cézanne'' started life as the ''Ariadne'', ordered by and for Rederi AB Nordö, Malmö for services in the Eastern Mediterranean. She was launched at the Kockums Varv AB shipyard in Malmö, Sweden on 13 October 1979 and delivered to Rederi AB Nordö in January 1980. In February 1980, she was renamed ''Soca'' opening a service between Koper, Yugoslavia and Tartous, Syria with UMEF. On 7 June 1980, the ''Soca''s sister ship, capsized on her maiden voyage roughly 2 km away from Larnaca, Cyprus, this precipitated the end of Rederi's Yugoslavia to Syria service. Port (nautical)
Port and starboard are nautical terms for watercraft and aircraft, referring respectively to the left and right sides of the vessel, when aboard and facing the bow (front). Vessels with bilateral symmetry have left and right halves which are mirror images of each other. One asymmetric feature is where access to a boat, ship, or aircraft is at the side, it is usually only on the port side (hence the name). MV ''Volcán de Tacande'' was a ferry last owned by Naviera Armas, which was operated on routes around the Canary Islands. She was built by Brodogradiliste Jozo Lozovina Mosor, Togir, Yugoslavia in 1974 (Yard No. 163) for Stena Ab, Göteborg as a roll-on roll-off car and commercial vehicle ferry, under the name ''Stena Nordica''. It was launched on 17 June 1973. From 1996 to 2000, she was owned by SeaFrance under the name ''SeaFrance Monet''. MS Nord Pas-de-Calais
MS ''Al Andalus Express'' (formerly ''Nord Pas-de-Calais'') is a freight ferry owned by Eurotunnel and operated by FRS Iberia/Maroc. She was built in 1987 by Chantiers du Nord et de la Mediterranee, Dunkirk (Yard No 325) for ''Societe Nationale des Chemin de Fer Francais'' ( SNCF) as a multi-purpose passenger and roll-on roll-off ferry for lorries and railway vehicles. After the introduction of Eurotunnel there was no need for a train ferry, so SNCF was losing money running her. She was acquired by SNAT and Stena Sealink in 1989, which operated the ''Nord Pas-de-Calais'' until 31 December 1995. From 1 January 1996 SNAT operated as SeaFrance. The vessel was renamed ''SeaFrance Nord Pas-de-Calais''. SeaFrance operated until November 2011, and was liquidated on 9 January 2012. Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven GmbH is a dockyard in Bremerhaven. It was founded in 1863 by the shipping company Norddeutscher Lloyd, first mainly used as a repair workshop for the company’s own merchant fleet. This new yard was established in exchange and addition to the former small Lloyd-workshop in Bremen which was already founded in 1857. In the 1970s, the shipyard became member of the Vulkan Group. As of 2016, the Lloyd facility is the last remaining major dockyard in Bremerhaven. It employs 500 workers and occupies 260,000 m². Ships with a draught as deep as 11.5 m can be accommodated. The dockyard is solely focused on ship repair, maintenance and reconstruction.
