MF Norwegian School Of Theology, Religion And Society
MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society (MF for short) is a Norwegian private specialized university. MF focuses on education, research and dissemination of their fields of expertise. The specialized university is located at Majorstuen in Oslo. MF was founded in 1907 as an independent theological institution at university level and is Norway's largest provider of theological education and research. MF has around 120 employees, 1000 students and about 50 Ph.D. candidates. MF educates for various church professions and offers a 5-years master in education, as well as various study programs on Ph.D., masters and bachelor level. Students are educated for professions within the church, education and society. MF has from 1967 offered education within Christianity and other religions for use in school and society, in addition to theology. Andreas Aarflot
Andreas Aarflot (born 1 July 1928) is a Norwegian theologian and bishop emeritus in the Church of Norway. He was bishop of Oslo from 1977 to 1998. Early life Aarflot was born in Yiyang, China where his mother and father served the Norwegian Missionary Society in the Hunan province. Aarflot earned his cand.theol. from MF Norwegian School of Theology (1951) and dr.theol. from University of Oslo (1970). Furthermore, he has studied in Heidelberg, England and the United States, has an honorary doctor's degree from St. Olaf College (1987) and is an honorary member of ''Finska kyrkohistoriska sälllskapet'' (1978). Aarflot has among other things worked for the Norwegian Seamen's Mission and the Norwegian Lutheran Inner Mission Society, and served as a priest in Røyken. Halvor Nordhaug
Halvor Nordhaug (born 26 February 1953) is a Norwegian former Bishop in the Lutheran Church of Norway. He was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Bjørgvin in 2008 and served in that capacity until 2023. Nordhaug is the son of bishop Ole Nordhaug and psalmist Liv Nordhaug. Halvor Nordhaug is married and has three children. Nordhaug received his Cand.theol. degree in 1978 from the MF Norwegian School of Theology. He was ordained in 1979 at the Fredrikstad Cathedral. Finn Wagle
Finn Wagle (born 19 June 1941) is a theologian and a former bishop of Nidaros in the Church of Norway. He was also the Preses (''Primus inter pares'', “first among equals”) and thus presided over the Bishop's Conference in the Church of Norway from 2002 until 2006. Career Wagle enrolled as a student at MF Norwegian School of Theology in 1962, and graduated in 1968 with the cand.theol. degree. The following year he graduated from the Practical Theological Seminary at MF. He also studied in 1966-1967 in Berlin with a Willy Brandt Scholarship. Herborg Finnset
Herborg Oline Finnset (born 28 March 1961 in Sørreisa, Troms) is a Norwegian prelate of the Church of Norway who is the Bishop of Nidaros as of 2018. Finnset is one of the forces behind Tromsø Church Music Festival. Biography Finnset graduated from the Faculty of Law in Oslo, and was ordained priest in Oslo Cathedral in 1988. She had worked in Hålogaland as priest at Hammerfest Church, and later Lenvik Church. Then, Finnset was pastor of Strinda parish in the Diocese of Nidaros, and later became Dean of Tromsø domprosti from 2005 till 2017. Tor Singsaas
Tor Singsaas (born 1 February 1948) is a Norwegian Lutheran minister and the former bishop in the Diocese of Nidaros. Background Singsaas was born and baptized in Hølonda Municipality, Norway and grew up in Buvika and Melhus. His father was a general store manager, and Singsaas grew up in and around these stores, which were typically where people in the local community gathered on a daily basis. He briefly considered becoming an actor, but settled on a career within theology. Ernst Oddvar Baasland (born 3 April 1945 in Kristiansand, Norway) was the Bishop of the Diocese of Stavanger in the Church of Norway from 1998 to 2009. Erling Johan Pettersen (born 1950) is a Norwegian theologian, priest, and since 2016, a Bishop Emeritus of the Church of Norway. Olav Øygard (born 29 July 1956) is a Norwegian Lutheran prelate of the Church of Norway who serves as the Bishop of Nord-Hålogaland since 2014. Laila Riksaasen Dahl
Laila Riksaasen Dahl (born 7 March 1947, in Oslo) is a Norwegian theologian who served as bishop of the Diocese of Tunsberg in the Church of Norway from 2002 to 2014. Dahl is a graduate from both the University of Oslo (1970, cand.mag. degree) and MF Norwegian School of Theology (1990, cand.theol. degree). Dahl worked as a teacher from 1970 to 1980, and as a Christian educator ( cathecist) from 1980 to 1984. Per Arne Dahl (born 18 August 1950 in Sarpsborg) is a Norwegian author and former Bishop of Tunsberg. Biography He grew up in Gjøvik, Vålerenga in Oslo, and Kolbotn. Dahl is also known for a long-standing commitment as a columnist in ''Aftenposten'' together with the artist Ulf Aas. In 2003 he was appointed government scholar with effect from 2004.
